Balance and Bug Fixes
Title Update 10 is bringing our first large balance pass following the release of Warlords of New York. Beyond the addition of new content, the update focuses on three main aspects mainly game health through bug fixes and balancing, generosity by increasing your chances to receive a high-quality item as loot and increasing overall player power. Scroll down for a full list of bug fixes, balancing changes and gameplay tweaks.
Missing Localized Audio
We wanted to inform you about an issue with localized audio that will be present when we launch Title Update 10 and Season 2. While the team was able to work from home to get this update ready, with your help testing the content on the PTS, we unfortunately were not able to record all localized audio content for TU10. With everything going on in the world, our top priority is the well-being of our teams, including our voice actors. Of course, we will start working on recording the missing audio with our partners when it is safe to do so and, in some cases, we were able to get things started already. Adding the localized files to the game as soon as we can in one of our next updates is an absolute priority for the team. This only affects Seasonal content. Operation Iron Horse audio is fully localized. If you are currently playing with a non-English client, you don’t have to change anything going into Title Update 10. When localized audio is missing you will just hear the English audio instead. Subtitles have been localized and can be activated in the ingame options. As work continues, we will update you on the progress of the integration here on the forums and on State of the Game. Thank you and stay safe!

Bounties acquired by speaking to characters in the open world will always be set to the difficulty at time of acquisition or higher.
This affects the Snitch and civilians rescued during the Public Execution or Rescue Living World Activities.
Scheduled bounties, such as daily and clan bounties, are unaffected.
Developer comment: Bounties acquired in the open world should always provide challenge and loot appropriate to the world they were acquired in. Upping your global difficulty now has the added benefit of improving all bounties you acquire within it.
New Season Pass Holder Project Slot.
Season Pass holders now have access to an exclusive daily mission which provides a large bonus to XP.
Weekly SHD Requisition Project Slot
Endgame players at World Tier 5 and Level 40 now have a weekly supplies donation project which rewards them with an exotic cache. (For World Tier 5 players, this replaces the previous daily SHD Requisition project.)
Legendary Mission Project
After TU10, completing any legendary mission will grant you the Weekly Legendary Mission project slot.
Completing the designated legendary mission will reward you with an exotic cache.
Developer comment: With the addition of "re-rolls" to exotics available through crafting, we created the new Weekly projects to provide a reliable supply of exotic components or exotic items.
Incoming Repairs no longer increases the amount of armor repaired by armor kits, talents or gear set effects.
Developer comment: Incoming Repairs was always meant to be the defensive attribute equivalent to Repair Skills, so that players could further enhance the amount of healing they receive from their skills, or the group's healer. Unfortunately, the underlying code prevented us from differentiating between alternate sources of armor repair, such as those from talents and gear sets like Foundry Bulwark, or Firewall's unique armor kit effect. We wanted to address this during the development of Warlords of New York, but chose to post-pone the fix in order to deal with higher priority issues at the time. We underestimated the extent to which this attribute would affect the new Warlords meta, and failed to predict the severity of degenerate gameplay it would cause when combined with certain talents or gear sets. It's important to stress that this is not a PvP-only issue, or an instance of the PvP environment affecting PvE balance. Incoming Repairs was compromising both aspects of the game, and needed to be addressed, especially considering this update coincides with the release of a new raid. Not addressing the issue would mean forcing ourselves to balance all existing and future gear and talents around the knowledge that players could potentially (read: very likely) double the amount of repairs they receive, which stifles creativity and effectively limits player choice.
1% Weapon Handling now gives 1% Weapon Accuracy, Stability, Reload Speed, and Swap Speed, up from 0.25%.
Reduced the maximum amount of Weapon Handling rolled on gear by 6%, to a maximum of 8% at level 40.
Developer comment: In the current meta, Weapon Handling on gear is considered a dead stat with no significant benefit. In TU10, equipping a piece of gear with +8% Weapon Handling will now give you:
+8% Swap Speed
+8% Reload Speed
This should hopefully make Weapon Handling a strong complimentary attribute for players looking to increase their overall accuracy/stability (bloom + recoil) and/or reload/swap speed. Making the % amount of Weapon Accuracy/Stability/Swap Speed/Reload Speed gained from Weapon Handling 1:1 will also remove another element of arcane knowledge from the game and reduce the need for additional mental math when determining whether the bonus is an upgrade or not.
Leadership: Bonus Armor increased to 15% from 12%
Spike: Skill Damage Duration increased to 15s from 8s
Reformation: Skill Repair Duration increased to 15s from 8s
Creeping Death: No Longer goes on cooldown if there are no valid nearby enemies to apply a status effect to. Status effects applied now properly copy the source status effect’s damage and duration.
Global Damage Modifiers
Reduced all PvP weapon damage by -20%
Additional Damage Modifiers
Increased MMR PvP weapon damage by 12.5%
Reduced Assault Rifle PvP weapon damage by -15%
Reduced Shotgun PvP damage by -12.5%
Reduced SMG PvP damage by -10%
Reduced Pistol PvP damage by -10%
Reduced Rifle PvP damage by -5%
_Developer comment: With TU10, there have been significant buffs made to the base damage of assault rifles, SMGs, and shotguns in particular. In order to prevent those weapons from becoming overly powerful in PvP, we’ve had to lower their PvP damage modifiers to compensate. Note: Assault rifles are still tuned to be 10% stronger than normal in PvP in order to compensate for their innate Damage to Health bonus being less useful against other players when compared to other weapon archetypes._
Specific Damage Modifiers
Increased Double Barrel Shotgun PvP damage by 16.6%
Reduced Pestilence PvP damage by -10%
Reduced Classic M1A damage by -5%
Merciless/Ruthless: “Binary Trigger” amplified weapon damage and explosion damage reduced by -50% in PvP
Dodge City Gunslinger’s Holster: “Quick Draw” damage bonus gained per stack in PvP lowered from +2% to +1%
Stacks gained per second in PvP now match the PvE value (0.5s to 0.3s)
No longer automatically applies burn status effect to the nearest enemy in range.
Now requires maintaining range and LOS (line-of-sight) for 3 seconds between the holster bearer and nearest enemy before applying the burn status effect.
Added visual UI feedback to reveal the radius of effect in PvP and an indicator for LOS between the holster bearer and nearest enemy.
Developer comment: This should help address the lack of contextual feedback in PvP, and add a much needed window of opportunity for counterplay, or potential to avoid the incoming effect entirely.
* Pestilence * Plague of the Outcast damage-over-time effect no longer triggers True Patriot’s white debuff armor repair effect. (PvP and PvE)
Developer comment: While we like to embrace emergent or unintended mechanics when the end result is unique and fun gameplay, True Patriot’s white debuff explicitly states it requires shooting the debuffed target in order to receive the armor repair effect. Pestilence’s DoT managed to bypass this restriction, making it and True Patriot (especially when combined with Incoming Repairs) scale to disproportionate levels of power when used together.
Gear Set Modifiers
Reduced the range at which marked targets can damage each other when critically hit to 15m (PvP only).
Added visual UI feedback when in range of another marked target.
Efficient: Reduced specialization armor kit bonus from 100% to 50%
Versatile: Reduced the amplified weapon damage bonus for SMGs and shotguns from 35% to 25%
Vanguard: Reduced the duration of shield invulnerability from 5s to 2s
Note: UI will still show the old duration, but will be fixed in a later update.
Specialization Modifiers * Firewall * Extracellular Matrix Mesh armor kit regen strength reduced by -50%, from 200% to 150%
Pulse now correctly reveals and highlights all players in the DZ, not just hostiles/rogues
Increased Striker Drone damage by 30%
Increased Assault Turret damage by 55%
Reduced Firestarter Chem Launcher PvP damage by -20%
Reduced Bleed damage from Stinger Hive, Mortar Turret and Explosive Seeker Mine by 75%
Increased Stinger Hive damage by 20%, scaling up to 55% at skill tier 6
Developer commentary: We want dedicated skill builds to have multiple, powerful defensive tools for area denial/control. However, the strength of bleed effects meant being hit by just 1 stinger drone, mortar, or seeker mine was nearly a death sentence for most builds. The stinger hive should now better punish players who remain within its area of effect, rather than needing to rely entirely on the excessive damage of a single bleed DoT, while allowing the hive’s drone damage to scale higher for dedicated skill builds.

Developer comment: Along with the buffs to weapon damage, TU10's significant buff to weapon handling meant some exotic weapon mods no longer made sense or resulted in over tuned performance that no longer fit with the original design. Stinger Hive, Mortar Turret, and Explosive Seeker Mine now display its Bleed Damage and Duration
Cluster Seeker Mine targeting accuracy improved
Developer comment: The Cluster Seeker Mine is not intended to be as accurate as the Explosive variant. Once it is a certain distance from its target it locks the location it is aiming for and continues towards that regardless of where its original target agent has since moved to. This "bullcharge" behavior reflects the mini-mines' less advanced technology and balances the skill mod's effectiveness. This said, we have noticed that the Cluster Seeker's accuracy has been a source of frustration so we've shortened the distance until it activates its "bullcharge" and adjusted when it decides to explode. These adjustments should make the Cluster Seeker feel more accurate, but these are measured steps as we do not want the skill to return to its OP TU7-state.
Stinger Hive base damage reduced -20%
Stinger Hive damage bonus per skill tier increased from +10% to +20%
Developer comment: In order to make investing in skill tiers have a greater impact on the Stinger Hive's damage, we slightly reduced base drone damage, while doubling the amount of damage gained with each skill tier. These changes will result in a net buff for dedicated skill builds, with a 10% increase in Stinger Hive drone damage at skill tier 6.
Restorer hive gains +5% drone flight speed per skill tier
Developer comment: Increases to the Restorer Hive's radius had the unfortunate effect of increasing the time it took for repair drones to reach their target the further they were from the hive. Increasing drone flight speed with each skill tier should help offset that somewhat counter-intuitive behavior when taking advantage of the increased area of effect, and make the Restorer Hive a more reliable tool for healers.
Riot Foam Chem Launcher ensnare duration bonus per skill tier reduced from +20% to +10%
Reinforcer Chem Launcher: UI has been updated to clarify that the initial heal only affects allies and not the Skill user. The functionality has not changed.
Blinder Firefly blind duration bonus per skill tier reduced from +20% to +10%
Blinder Firefly base blind duration reduced from 6s to 5s
Banshee Pulse cooldown increased from 20s to 30s
Banshee Pulse base confuse duration reduced from 5s to 4s
Jammer Pulse base disrupt duration reduced from 4s to 3s
Shock Trap base shock duration reduced from 5s to 3s (PvP duration remains unchanged)
Shock Trap base radius increased from 2m to 2.5m
When the active duration ends, its cooldown is refunded an equal number of seconds that it was active.
Addressing recent controversies + A new idea for the Trusted Sellers list.
Hello everyone. I just took a brief hiatus from moderating, as I’ve been in the process of a major post-graduation move. I just caught up with some of the recent controversy regarding Will, and we did a thorough investigation on the matter. Unfortunately, we found evidence of bad faith on the side of the primary individual attacking Will, including usage of alternate accounts to fake grassroots momentum in the "petition” to remove (which he deleted, after being found out), as well as strong suspicions of vote manipulation. Luckily, nothing worthy of an exposé post, like the last time this happened. We have no reason to believe that his motives were more nefarious than simply getting the attention and gratification of being a Cancel Culture Star. But suffice it to say, we are disinclined to bow to his attempt to “cancel” Will. That said, Will is far from innocent. Most of the comments on the individuals posts were not fake and/or motivated for the same reasons as the user behind the main posts. We identified many issues via customer anecdotes and examples of Will’s (un)professional manner, which will not continue to fly as a trusted seller on this board. Will is going to be on thin ice for the time being, and despite being an OG seller on Repsneakers, we are not opposed to removing or even blacklisting him from the TS list if issues persist. Onto the next topic: It is unfortunate that we have had to remove several trusted sellers recently, and I have come to the realization that the current system is not optimal in the way list removals are handled. For example, until a few months ago, UABat was one of the most popular sellers on this subreddit. But he was recently removed from the TS list. Despite this removal, he still appears to be dedicated to making amends with the community, and climbing out of the hole he dug himself into. Not good enough to be on the TS list. Not bad enough to be on the blacklist... So what do we do about these situations where we have sellers have solid history of good service, but go through rough patches which cause loss of confidence by the community? Simply being removed from the list and forgotten/shunned doesn’t seem to be the best answer. The solution may be a third section for the purpose of further distinguishing the many sellers on this board. The idea is to categorize sellers in a less polarizing way than the simply binary (tri-nary?) "on the list", "off the list", or "blacklisted". We would call this section “New/Probationary Sellers”, which is yet another idea adopted from our grandfather community, RWI Forum. In this section, we would post profiles for new or new-to-Repsneakers sellers which have established a positive/neutral reputation on Repsneakers, but not yet to the extent that they belong on the TS list. We would also migrate profiles for sellers which were previously on the TS list, but fell out of favor with the community for reasons which did not justify blacklisting. Sellers on this "NP list” will have the opportunity to move up to the TS list if they prove their commitment to the community. The primary purpose of the pinned post is to provide easily-accessible information on the full breadth of sellers on this board, including those which should be avoided (the blacklist). Merely removing sellers from the TS list does the community a disservice, because users will be left with questions about why ‘x’ seller is not on the list, but also isn’t blacklisted. I believe creating a fuller picture of the marketplace options will have a positive effect. It may also result in probationary sellers finding more motivation to earn their place back on the TS list, and remain there. This may apply to all or most of the recent removals from the TS List, such as Vicky and UABat, as well as new sellers like Firecloud and Wedosneakers. Let me know what you guys think of the idea. I hope all my fellow Americans had a good Independence Day! 🇺🇸
Ethereum on ARM. Raspberry Pi 4 images release based on Ubuntu 20.04 64 bit. Turn your Raspberry Pi 4 into an Eth 1.0 or Eth 2.0 node just by flashing the MicroSD card. Memory issues solved and new monitoring dashboards. Installation guide.
TL;DR:Flash your Raspberry Pi 4, plug in an ethernet cable, connect the SSD disk and power up the device to turn the Raspberry Pi 4 into a full Ethereum 1.0 node or an Ethereum 2.0 node (beacon chain / validator) Some background first. As you know, we’ve been running into some memory issues with the Raspberry Pi 4 image as Raspbian OS is still on 32bits (at least the userland). While we prefer to stick with the official OS we came to the conclusion that, in order to solve these issues, we need to migrate to a native 64 bits OS Besides, Eth 2.0 clients don’t support 32 bits binaries so using Raspbian would exclude the Raspberry Pi 4 from running an Eth 2.0 node (and the possibility of staking). So, after several tests we are now releasing 2 different images based on Ubuntu 20.04 64bit : Eth 1.0 and Eth 2.0 editions. Basically, both are the same image and include the same features of the Raspbian based images. But they are setup for running Eth 1.0 or Eth 2.0 software by default Images take care of all the necessary steps, from setting up the environment and formatting the SSD disk to installing and running the Ethereum software as well as starting the blockchain synchronization.
Based on Ubuntu 20.04 64bit
Automatic USB disk partitioning and formatting
Adds swap memory (ZRAM kernel module + a swap file) based on Armbian work
Changes the hostname to something like “ethnode-e2a3e6fe” based on MAC hash
Runs software as a systemd service and starts syncing the Blockchain
Includes an APT repository for installing and upgrading Ethereum software
Includes a monitoring dashboard based on Grafana / Prometheus
Both images include the same packages, the only difference between them is that Eth 1.0 runs Geth by default and Eth 2.0 runs Prysm beacon chain by default. Ethereum 1.0 clients
30303 Port forwarding (Eth 1.0) and 13000 port forwarding (Eth 2.0)
A case with heatsink and fan (Optional but strongly recommended)
USB keyboard, Monitor and HDMI cable (micro-HDMI) (Optional)
You will need and SSD to run the Ethereum clients (without an SSD drive there’s absolutely no chance of syncing the Ethereum blockchain). There are 2 options:
Use a USB portable SSD disk such as the Samsung T5 Portable SSD.
Use a USB 3.0 External Hard Drive Case with a SSD Disk. In our case we used a Inateck 2.5 Hard Drive Enclosure FE2011. Make sure to buy a case with an UAS compliant chip, particularly, one of these: JMicron (JMS567 or JMS578) or ASMedia (ASM1153E).
In both cases, avoid getting low quality SSD disks as it is a key component of you node and it can drastically affect the performance (and sync times) Keep in mind that you need to plug the disk to an USB 3.0 port (blue)
3.- Insert de MicroSD into the Raspberry Pi 4. Connect an Ethernet cable and attach the USB SSD disk (make sure you are using a blue port). 4.- Power on the device The Ubuntu OS will boot up in less than one minute but you will need to wait approximately 10 minutes in order to allow the script to perform the necessary tasks to turn the device into an Ethereum node and reboot the Raspberry. Depending on the image, you will be running:
Eth 1.0: Geth as the default client syncing the blockchain
Eth 2.0: Prysm as default client syncing the beacon chain (Topaz testnet)
5.- Log in You can log in through SSH or using the console (if you have a monitor and keyboard attached)
User: ethereum Password: ethereum
You will be prompted to change the password on first login, so you will need to login twice. 6.- Open 30303 port for Geth and 13000 if you are running Prysm beacon chain. If you don’t know how to do this, google “port forwarding” followed by your router model. 7.- Getting console output You can see what’s happening in the background by typing:
sudo tail -f /valog/syslog
Congratulations. You are now running a full Ethereum node on your Raspberry Pi 4.
Syncing the Blockchain
Now you need to wait for the blockchain to be synced. In the case of Eth 1.0 This will take a few days depending on several factors but you can expect up to about 5-7 days. If you are running the Eth 2.0 Topaz tesnet you can expect 1-2 days of Beacon chain synchronization time. Remember that you will need to setup the validator later in order to start the staking process (see “How to run the Eth 2.0 validator” section below).
For this first release, we included 3 monitoring dashboards based on Prometheus / Grafana in order to monitor the node and clients’ data (Geth and Besu). You can access through your web browser:
All clients run as a systemd service. This is important because in case of some problem arises the system will respawn the process automatically. Geth and Prysm beacon chain run by default (depending on what you are synchronizing, Eth 1.0 or Eth 2.0) so, if you want to switch to other clients (from Geth to Nethermind, for instance), you need to stop and disable Geth first, and enable and start the other client:
Clients’ config files are located in the /etc/ethereum/ directory. You can edit these files and restart the systemd service in order for the changes to take effect. The only exception is Nethermind which, additionally, has a mainnet config file located here:
Blockchain clients’ data is stored on the ethereum home account as follows (note the dot before the directory name): Eth 1.0
/home/ethereum/.eth2 /home/ethereum/.eth2validators /home/ethereum/.lighthouse Hyperledger Besu and Nethermind
Nethermind and Hyperledger Besu
These 2 great Eth 1.0 clients have become a great alternative to Geth and Parity. The more diversity in the network, the better, so you may give them a try and contribute to the network health. Both need further testing so feel free to play with them and report back your feedback.
How to run the Eth 2.0 validator (staking)
Once the Topaz testnet beacon chain is synchronized you can run a validator in the same device. You will need to follow the steps described here: https://prylabs.net/participate The first time, you need to create manually an account by running the “validator” binary and setup a password. Once you completed this step you can add the password to /etc/ethereum/prysm-validator.conf and start the validator as a systemd service
We put a lot of work trying to setup the Raspberry Pi 4 as a full Ethereum node as we know the massive user base of this device may have a very positive impact in the network. Please, take into account that this is the first image based on Ubuntu 20.04 so there may be some bugs. If so, open an issue on Github or reach us on twitter (https://twitter.com/EthereumOnARM).
Questions about experiences with anti-psychotics wrt dysphoria from lactation due high-prolactin side effect of anti-psychotics
I'm sorry if this isn't the right forum for this question, I just honestly can't find anyplace else where might possibly get other trans experiences. I've recently discovered I need an anti-psychotic.I've spent my entire life on differetn anti-depressents to and anti anxiety medication to attempt to make me fucntional, and noen o fthem worked. I ended up in a psych ward for suicidality and they put me one one. It was ripseridone, and it changed my life for the better. But then, a month or so once it had been in my system, I started lactating. Which is causing me extreme dysphoria. I've learned that anti-psychotics CAN elevate prolactin and that the cause of my lactaition is my new medicaiton. I am terrified about what my options might end up being. My endicrinologist did not seem confident that any other anti-psychotic wouldn't just cause the same issue. She wanted me to just wear nursing pads the rest of the my life because the respersidone had helped me mental health. I metnally can not do that. I'm non binary, and am generally okay with my body, but having to be consntatly aware of and thinking of my breasts is causing me extreme dysphoria. I"m used to an 'out of sight, out of mind" mindset. I've been on seroquel, an anti-psychotic that isn't said to raise prolactin, but it had done nmothing at all for me other than make me tired. I'm worried that this emans none of the other anti-psychotics like serqoeul will work for me either, and the only ones that will work are the ones thtat will raise prolactin. My biggest fear is that the only medication that will be able to help me are anti-psychotics that raise prolactin and then I will be constnatly expeirencing dypshoria and embarassment. I need to know if if it is possible that any other trans people have exeprienced this situation and what they were able to do. My endocrinologist told me she can't just gave me apill to lower prolactin because that would negate the effects of the anti-psychotic. I just need to know that there is hope and that other people have gone through this and things ended up okay. I don't get to see my psych doctor until the 22nd, and I'm struggling to survive the days leading up till then, afraid that no medi questions are these:
Has anyone been on an anti-psychotic that worked for them but had to go off due to this side effect, and then actually found another one that worked and DIDN'T have the side effect? What one did you go on?
Or if you were in a situation where the only one that worked caused lactation, did they have ANYTHING else they could do for you that would stop it, or did they just tell you to sort it out in therapy and learn to live with it?
If you also had a lactation side effect, but then went on another anti-psychotic that is in the same vein as resperindone that would usualyl increase prolactin as well, but didn't have that side effect with that medicaiton. My mental health has gone further down the drain, wondering if i'l actually have a good response to another anti-pschcotic that doesn't raise prolactin. And wondering if its possible if i DO take anoter anti-psychotic that raises prolactin, if it's possible i wont get that side effect on anotehr medicine. I'm terrified of my fate being that I am just simply not supposed to be some one who gets better. I just need some one tel tell me they've been where I am and that things turned out okay.
Installing ALOT, ALOV, MEUITM, and other mods for Mass Effect on Linux
Valve's Proton allows Steam users to run games that don't have a native Linux implementation on their Linux machines. It's amazing. Mass Effect is has a Gold rating on ProtonDB which means it runs well when using Proton, with minor adjustments. If you have the game on Origin or you have a physical copy, you can also play on Linux, but you'll have to use Lutris or something similar instead. Unfortunately, there's not much out there on how to install mods such as A Lot Of Textures (ALOT) and A Lot of Videos (ALOV) for Mass Effect on Linux. It took a lot of work to figure it out, but I was able to do it. Here are some notes I've compiled in my quest in case you want to give it a go.
This guide is assuming you're using Steam. Origin and physical copy users might find these notes useful though. These are the system specs of the machine I played Mass Effect on:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
GPU: AMD Radeon 5700 XT
GPU Driver: 4.6 Mesa 20.0.7
RAM: 16 GB
OS: Manjaro 20.0.3
Kernel: Linux 126.96.36.199-1
This guide should apply to most Linux distros, I suspect. For example, GrayDog on YouTube is running Fedora 32 with ALOT and ALOV installed according to this video. In this guide, I will assume the following:
You have experience in Linux, e.g. permissions, using the terminal
You know experience with Steam on Linux, e.g. you know how to backup games and how to run games with SteamPlay/Proton
You have experience modding Mass Effect, e.g., you know that some mods are not compatible with each other and that texture mods are installed last
Finally, this guide is not exhaustive as it's entirely based off of my experience. There might be multiple ways to install these mods or some steps that aren't actually required. If you have any interesting information about installing mods for Mass Effect on Linux, let me know!
Install and run your game once
First, install a fresh copy of Mass Effect. Then run the game to make sure it works and so that Steam creates compatibility files that it needs for Proton to work its magic. I highly recommend that you backup your game if you have the storage space because it's possible you'll mess up and need to reinstall. If you have any saves in /home/use.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/17460/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuseMy\ Documents/BioWare/Mass\ Effect/Save/, make sure to back those up too.
Installing DLC + The Audio Issue
Next, you should install at least the Bring Down the Sky DLC first because some mods, like ME1 Recalibrated, require it. If you want Pinnacle Station, you should install that now too. Read this Steam guide by Flabdad. It explains how to download and install the DLC. It also specifies a way to fix the audio issue, but there have been reported problems with that method according to this GitHub issue comment. The method to fix the audio issue that I recommend is by LennoxLuther on ProtonDB.
Before Installing Any Mods
First thing to do is to download binkw23.dll and bink32.dll from here. Put those files in /home/use.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Mass\ Effect/Binaries/. While testing, I've actually installed texture mods without these two dlls and I didn't run into much trouble. I would still install them anyway.
Downloaded the exe version of this mod because installing the exe is the same as installing Bring Down the Sky and Pinnacle Station exes. Below is an example. export STEAM_COMPAT_DATA_PATH="/home/use.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/17460/"; python3 /home/use.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Proton\ 5.0/proton waitforexitandrun /home/useGames/mass-effect/mods/ME1-recalibrated/ME1\ Recalibrated\ \(overwrites\ using\ exe\ installer\)-114-2-2-3-1590649034.exe
Installing this mod is very similar to how you would do it on Windows. Keep a copy of the old BIOGame.ini somewhere in case you want to change back. Extract BIOGame.ini from the archive you downloaded and put it in /home/use.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/17460/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuseMy\ Documents/BioWare/Mass\ Effect/Config/ to replace the existing version. Alternatively, you can edit the original BIOGame.ini. Look for RBPhysicsGravityScaling under the [Engine.WorldInfo] section and change it to 1.27 or your desired gravity levels.
Installing this mod is also very similar to how you would do it on Windows. Keep a copy of the old dinput8.dll somewhere in case you want to change back. Extract dinput8.dll from the archive you downloaded and put it in /home/use.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Mass\ Effect/Binaries/.
Installing this mod is also very similar to how you would do it on Windows. Extract the rar archive into /home/use.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Mass\ Effect/Binaries/. To uninstall, just delete those same files that you extracted.
Extract all desired files from the archives you downloaded. From the main ALOV archive, you'll get two directories, BaseGame and BDTS. In BaseGames, there is a Movies directory. Replace the contents of /home/use.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Mass\ Effect/BioGame/CookedPC/Movies/ with this directory's contents. In BDTS, there is also a Movies directory. Replace the contents of /home/use.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Mass\ Effect/DLC/DLC_UNC/Movies/ with this directory's contents. To install the optional FTL loading screen, take the lone UCW_Loading_Flyby.bik and replace /home/use.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Mass\ Effect/BioGame/CookedPC/Movies/UCW_Loading_Flyby.bik with that file.
Before downloading texture mods...
Disclaimer: I had a lot of problems installing texture mods. I was not able to install MEUITM and ALOT with 100% stability, i.e. my game crashed a couple times when I clicked "Investigate" in conversation. Also, I ran into issues where shadows didn't function properly when I installed MEUITM first then ALOT after, e.g. default male Shepard's face became completely black. Download the Linux zips from here and extract. If the Linux zips aren't in the current release, try another. First, run ./MassEffectModder.AppImage. Set the game path, e.g. /home/use.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Mass\ Effect/Binaries/MassEffect.exe, and the user path, e.g. /home/use.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/17460/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuseMy\ Documents/BioWare/Mass\ Effect. What this will do is create a configuration file named /home/use.config/MassEffectModdeMassEffectModder.ini. The reason I use the GUI instead of the CLI version is that MassEffectModderNoGui gets stuck at this line due to an error. I've never written any program in C++, but I know that a single C++ program might run differently on different OSes as well as different machines. In any case, the owner of the MassEffectModder repository removed the Linux programs in the latest release at the time of writing. If you're using Steam and the version of Proton you're using is 5.0 or newer, you can skip to the next section. If you're using an older version of Proton, you'll should enable the PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE launch option because it's not enabled by default unlike Proton 5.0 and newer. You can skip to the next section. Otherwise, you should use ./MassEffectModderNoGui to apply the large address awareness fix to ME1. Below is an example. /home/useGames/mass-effect/mods/MassEffectModderNoGui --apply-me1-laa I say "should" because the crashes I experienced usually occur due to LAA not working properly, according to C3Anderson the creator of MEUITM. However, I did try Mass Effect with LAA disabled and I felt that my game crashed more than when I had LAA enabled. In short, I believe there is nothing to lose by enabling LAA.
This section will be to install both MEUITM and ALOT. Once you have the zip archives, extract the contents. For MEUITM, in the mods directory, there will be many mem files. Some mems will overwrite each other. Check installer.ini, which was also extracted, to see which files correspond to which texture packs. Choose one of each type and move or delete the others. For example, I deleted Eyes_Vibrant.mem and kept Eyes_Vanillastyle.mem. There will also be some zip archives in the MEUITM directory. I've never tried installing them, but I suspect installing them only requires extracting the files to the proper locations similar to the SweetFX mod. Consolidate the MEUITM and ALOT mem files into one directory. Typically, the MEUITM is installed before ALOT. With all mem files in one directory, the ALOT mems will be installed first since those files come first lexigraphically. If you want to ALOT textures to override MEUITM textures, I would add some z's to the beginning of the ALOT mem files. To check if the ALOT files were properly installed after MEUITM, compare your game to these photos. Use ./MassEffectModderNoGui to install the textures. Below is an example. /home/useGames/mass-effect/mods/MassEffectModderNoGui --install-mods --gameid 1 --input /home/useGames/mass-effect/mods/MEUITM/mods/ --alot-mode --limit-2k If you want to try the 4K textures, remove the --limit-2k flag. If you run into issues here, you'll need to reinstall your game (I hope you have a backup!) and all other mods.
After installing texture mods...
This section is optional. The reason this section is optional is because although the textures looked better when I did, I felt that the game crashed more than when I skipped this step. Skipping this step should reduce and possibly eliminate crashes. I say "possibly eliminate" because I played the last 10 hours of a playthrough with the original BIOEngine.ini and experienced no crashes. Use ./MassEffectModderNoGui to update the BIOEngine.ini. Below is an example. /home/useGames/mass-effect/mods/MassEffectModderNoGui --apply-lods-gfx --gameid 1 --meuitm-mode --limit-2k I would not recommend removing the --limit-2k flag. My game crashed on startup when I did. If you want to undo this, you can move /home/use.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/17460/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuseMy\ Documents/BioWare/Mass\ Effect/Config/BIOEngine.ini out of the Config directory and run Mass Effect. This should generate the original ini.
Feel free to ask questions if something doesn't work. I tried a lot of things to get these mods to work so I might have forgotten to add a step or something. Okay, that's all. Good luck and have fun! Edit: Changed my confidence level on reason why MassEffectModderNoGui didn't work for setting game paths

Flashing stock firmware, Custom ROMs, Custom Recovery and others
Well, this is a sensitive subject. We do not promote this behaviour nor condone it but will not censor it because it’s a harsh reality and a path that many users take now these days. Instead of leaving it be, we are taking action for you to be informed as best as possible and avoid messing up your phone. What will happen if you follow this path: A. Your warranty will be void. B. Your phone can end up bricked. C. Samsung Firmware OTA (known as System Updates) will no longer work once you flashed custom binaries. You’d need to flash every time there is an update. D. All KNOX-related apps like Samsung Pay, Secure Folder and others will no longer work. So be very careful if you decide on continuing anyways because we will NOT take responsibility for your mistakes and laugh at you if you attempt to blame us for it. You have been informed of the risks. Flashing stock firmware To flash stock firmware, you have to download the desired firmware and Odin from sites like Sammobile. Be sure to download the exact same model. It can be from a different region but it is crucial that the firmware is for the exact same model else you’ll definitely brick your device. Instructions:
Once you download the firmware, extract it and you should get 5 files:
AP (it’s System and Recovery)
BL (it’s the bootloader)
CP (it’s Modem/Radio)
CSC_XXX (it’s Country/Region/Operator, cleans all data and apps, it’s a clean flash)
HOME_CSC_XXX (it’s Country/Region/Operator, you can keep apps and data but it’s a dirty flash, a.k.a. possible brick)
Add each file to the respective field in Odin.
Reboot your phone in Download mode (also known as Odin mode)
How to reboot it:
Turn off your device completely.
Hold both Volume Up and Volume Down buttons.
Connect your device to a PC or laptop.
Once the screen changes, let go off both buttons.
Odin should detect your device and a blue box will show up with the COM port number. If they don’t appear, please be sure to have Samsung drivers installed in your pc or laptop.
Do not tick any boxes. The only options that should be ticked already (if they aren’t please tick them) are F. Reset Time and Auto-Reboot.
Click the start button, let Odin do its job until you see a green coloured box with the text “PASS”. That means the flash has been completed and your phone is rebooting (should be rebooting unless you didn’t tick it for some reason). At any point from now you can disconnect your device.
Flashing Custom Recovery and ROMs In this case, we’d love to give you information about it but we believe custom recoveries and ROMs are still in an early stage and we’ve found multiple information sites and posts that lead to different ways of installing each. We are not going to guide you on this one, in fact, please don’t attempt to do it. Also, when it comes to flashing these two, if you screw up doing anything, please do not ask for help or complain in this sub. We will delete your post or comment. For any type of issues or complaints about a custom ROM or Recovery, please go to the site or forum you downloaded it from. So that'd be all for this megathread! Please be sure to comment on any matter you'd like to add and if you have any info on updates, please add it here as well with many details as possible! Cheers!
From being PIP'd at a startup to leveling up into a FANG in four months.
When my manager sat me down in our 1:1 to deliver me the news that I was about to be put on a PIP the next week and to use the weekend to think what my next step should be, my initial reaction was to want to take it and save my job. I knew I've been in a bit of a slump, sleeping very poorly, and not outputting as much as I could have. But to be quite honest, this was a blessing in disguise. The company I've been working at wasn't doing that well to begin with. We raised a series D in just under two years of existence and my options have quintupled in value since joining, but we've had regulational troubles and the hardware team has been slipping. Our CTO was fired four months after I joined, and our new CTO promised to double our engineering headcount by the end of last year. We've maybe only added 5 people to a team of 30 instead by that point. To that end, I've had multiple manager changes within that time period: a total of five managers and six manager changes all within 12 months. As this was my first job out of college, I thought this was all normal for a startup. In addition, the pay was very low. For a new grad that didn't know better, like yours truly, that number was a lot for someone who was only ever paid hourly. But after discussing with friends that went onto working at FANGs and other, more established unicorn startups, it was abundantly clear that me and my fellow colleagues were severely underpaid. Like, over 50% lower in base salary alone underpaid for the same line of work and more stress. The work itself wasn't that great either. It was a system that had to be supported globally with different rules in different countries and with physical hardware that we had little control over. Nobody left the office before dinner was served, and seldom did people start going home after dinner was finished (well, up until recently since people stopped giving fucks). We had almost no senior engineers either, most of the work was done by fresh grads or interns from top CS schools. We maybe had only four veteran IC's, but the rest of the "senior" staff were in management. Everyone else was a new grad or junior engineer. You wouldn't find anyone that had more than two years of experience in the rest of the crowd. It's fun to be around people my age, but the work was sloppy and stressful when shit broke because you're trying to build something with little guidance and your code reviewers are other new grads that are equally as experienced as yourself. Nobody (besides maybe three people) has ever coded in the framework we used, and everyone learned the language and framework right on the job. Our only training was a link to an official guide. I'm not going to get into the company politics, but it's sufficient to say our Blind was so spicy to the point screenshots of several call-out threads were brought up in meetings and mentioned in all-hands. It was pretty bad. But going back to me getting served a PIP. My manager gave me an ultimatum: either take the PIP, or take severance and interview for another company. Over that weekend, I thought really hard about all the things I've seen and done in the past year, and quite frankly, I found that I haven't been happy at that place for a while now. It doesn't make sense to try to save a job I wasn't going to be happy at, where I get paid peanuts, and where my contributions are invisible to upper management because the longest I've had the same manager for was two and a half months. I decided to take the severance and leave. This gave me time to relax, exercise, enjoy hobbies I haven't done in months, and most importantly, spend time with family and friends I haven't been around with because of this job. Oh, I forgot to mention that the company moved headquarters halfway through my tenure and bumped my commute from 20 minutes to over an hour. I haven't touched leetcode or interview prep materials in ages since joining, so I really only hit the books about two weeks after leaving. My daily routine would be to exercise in the day, eat a protein heavy meal, and study up leetcode into the night at a 24/7 cafe. I would usually do this with a buddy or two who are freelance developers. I also kept a spreadsheet of jobs I was interested in and updated their statuses in where I was at in the process, who the point of contact was, when the interview dates are, etc. I wanted to end up at a FANG company since their offices were much closer to where I lived and the culture there would help me grow more as an engineer. My process was that I started off with companies I didn't quite care about to practice interviewing, and then build up to places I did want to end up working at. I slowly but steadily practiced coding problems, took my time to understand what the solutions were, and apply those skills onto other problems that came up. In reality, most programming problems you encounter are really just other problems in disguise, and you just need to know the fundamentals of CS to get through them. I'm sure everyone wants to know what my stats are, so here they are: 64 easy, 50 medium, 15 hard. After a few months of practice and interviewing at companies I wasn't particularly interested in, I started applying for places that actually interested me. In the end, I got two offers and was able to negotiate with a FANG company that has an office 10 minutes away from my house. I not only nearly tripled my TC, but I also got leveled up to an L4. After being stuck in L3 for almost two years with shit pay, I am glad my patience and steady progress paid off. My lessons learned in this whole experience:
It's nice to have coworkers to hang out with that are your age, but it's not good for your growth if you don't have senior engineers or good managers that you can learn from and ask questions.
Companies that say they're struggling to hire good engineers usually mean they're underpaying their engineers and end up hiring new grads with little experience who don't know any better.
You need to have a consistent manager that will actually give a shit about your growth.
When looking for a new job, don't settle for something just because it pays slightly better than what you previously had. Why knowingly put yourself in a situation you don't want to be a part of?
Be patient with the job search. New things come all the time, and set up alerts on LinkedIn for jobs in your area. Again, don't settle for something you'll regret taking.
Commute time matters. Sure, I can listen to podcasts on a train for an hour or sleep on it, but I'd rather use that time to get an extra hour of uninterrupted sleep in my own bed and be more energetic and productive for the whole day. Not to mention gain more time in the afternoon and evening to do activities with friends and family.
Know your worth. levels.fyi is a great resource to see what you should be aiming for in pay.
Blind and this subreddit will make you feel inadequate. Don't take it to heart and always focus on your own progress. But at least know what you should be aiming for and what others have experienced in interviews and in their own companies.
Leetcode's interview experiences forum is a hidden gem (in my opinion) and is a great place to learn what processes are like at various companies and how people react to their own interviews.
As for my tips for the interview prep:
Start with LC easy problems. I'm talking about two sum and fizzbuzz easy levels. These problems you should know how to solve blindfolded. Do a bunch of them, and do a couple new ones each day to warm up.
LC medium problems are the most common I've encountered in interviews. Some can be hard, and some are stupidly easy. For the harder ones, don't be discouraged if you can't solve it right off the bat. Spend maybe at most 10 minutes thinking about it, and if you're still completely lost on how to solve it, there's no shame in looking at the "discuss" tab and seeing how others have solved it. Read the code line by line, understand what each piece is doing, implement the solution yourself, and move on to similar problems. With practice, you'll learn the patterns and tricks in these problems, and maybe you'll learn a few new syntactical party tricks in your language of choice.
LC hard problems will come up, but not often. YMMV. You should practice them at least solving one hard problem per week, if not more. I've had N Queens asked on a phone screen, so you never know what will come up in interviews.
There's a curated list of 75 problems you should solve that's been circling around here and on Blind. It's a good starting point.
I was recommended to use Interview Cake. While I didn't use it daily, it is a good resource in my opinion and the step by step solutions do help with guiding your thought process.
Most of my system design solutions came from experiences I've had and a lot were creative, open-ended questions. My advice is to be likeable to the interviewer and not BS your thought process. For some reason, system design is something that comes the most natural to me, so I sadly can't give much tips for studying on it besides seeing for yourself how current systems are built. And in general, you should be likeable to the interviewer. Smile, ask them what they work on, what cool projects they've done at the company, what their work life balance is like, etc. You're interviewing for the company and you're interviewing the company for yourself. Your interviewer is judging on whether you'd be a good person to be around with for 8 hours and help contribute to solving their problems, and you're judging whether the company you're interviewing for will make you enjoy yourself being there. Everyone's experience is unique and certainly not as relaxed as mine. I thankfully had enough savings to last me almost a whole year without a job, but I realize others might not be fortunate enough to have that luxury. It'll be hard, but worth it to study up in the evenings and then take days off to go to onsites. In the end, what matters most is your sanity and happiness. Tl;dr: job sucked, I got PIP'd, quit, took time off, studied, interviewed, and accepted a FANG offer that tripled my pay in four months.

Tarkov Overview - What is Escape from Tarkov?
Escape from Tarkov is a tactical, realistic, FPS with MMO elements developed by Battlestate Games. It is currently in closed Beta. The game features several maps in which your primary character, your PMC, goes into Raids in order to find and salvage loot and useful equipment to survive and thrive in Tarkov. Death is very punishing in Tarkov. If you die you lose everything you had on you when you die (with the exception of what's inside your Container and your melee weapon) including any equipment you brought with you or what you found inside the Raid. Enemies can be players (PMCs) or Scavengers ('Scavs') that are either controlled by AI or by players. Unlike many shooters, AI enemies in Tarkov are deadly - they can and will kill you on sight. They have recently been upgraded to act more intelligently, shoot more accurately, and react to situations on the map, such as investigating noise of gunfire or searching. It features beautiful and immersive environments, intricate and in-depth weapon modification system, a complex health system, dynamic and specific loot placement, and multiple options for engagement. Do you want to play slow and stealthy, to avoid fights, or set up a deadly ambush on an unwary foe? Or do you prefer raw combat, where only your quick wit, placements of shots, and tenaciousness determines who gets out alive? It's your Tarkov. You make the rules.
Tarkov Resources - Useful links
I take no credit or responsibility for any of the content in these links. To the best of my knowledge, these are updated consistently and are accurate, but user beware.
Huge collection of all the keys in the game. These are also on the wiki, but this page has them all on one page, and tries to inform the user if the key is worth keeping or using. Check it out here. This section is open to revision. Mention me in a thread (or in the comments below) about a resource and I'll see about adding it here.

Offline Raids - Player Practice
Offline raids is a feature added for testing and learning purposes for both new and veteran players alike. It is an incredibly useful tool. In an offline raid, your progress is not saved. This means you don't keep anything you find, keep any experience 'earned' if you successfully extract, or lose any gear when/if you die. To access OFFLINE Raids, head into a Raid normally until you see this screen. Then Check the box indicating that you want to do an OFFLINE raid and you're good to go! You even have a choice on whether or not to add AI. You can also control how many AI enemies spawn, fewer than normal or a great deal more! You can even make Scavs fight each other. (Framerates beware.) You can control how many scavs spawn (if any) as well as a number of other paramaters. New players should use offline raids as a tool to practice shooting, controls, movement, etc.
Tarkov features several maps - ranging from wide, beautiful vistas to ruined factory districts, to an abandoned laboratory where illegal experiments were being conducted. It is important to learn the maps you intend to play. In order to keep your gear, you must 'extract' at one of your designated exfiltration points. Not all extracts will be active every game, and some are conditional.
To see what extracts are available to you, double tap 'O' to show raid time and your exfils. If it has a ???? it might not be open.
Gate 3 Extract A small, fast-paced map that was primarily created for PvP. Scavs spawn in all the time. Very close quarters, shotguns and SMGs tend to dominate here. PMCs can only access one Exit (Gate 3) without the Factory Exit Key. Good place to go if you need PMC kills as action is pretty much guaranteed. It is recommended NOT to bring in a lot of gear to Factory until you are experienced. Factory Map in PvP is best played in Duos - due to the layout of the map, a Maximum of 6 PMCs may be present in the game. Due to the split spawn points, you effectively have 'sides' that have up to 3 spawn locations that are close together. This is why it is recommended to secure/scout enemy spawn locations. If you go in with a Duo, you at max have 2 players on your side for an even 2v2, and if played smartly you can eliminate them and know your 'side' is secure from aggression for the time being. Upon loading in, scavs usually take a couple minutes to spawn, though this depends on the server in question and isn't super reliable. For new players, the best loadout in Factory is going to be a MP-153 Loadout - using just an MBSS (or similar bag) and ammo in your pocket to fight other players and Scavs. Scavs will often spawn with AKs and other 'vendorable' weapons, so is a good source of income. Factory is also one of the best maps to Scav into, as Scavs can typically avoid the Exit camping strategy employed by a lot of weaker or newer players in order to secure gear, because they typically have extra exfiltrations whereas PMCs without the Factory Exit Key are stuck using Gate 3. If you go in with a modicum of gear, it is recommended to keep at least a flashbang (Zarya) in your container. This will allow you to quickly slot it into an empty chest rig or pocket so you can throw it into the exit door, this will flash enemies and is cheap to do - the one time you survive because you flashed the 3 exit campers using shotguns will make this strategy extremely valuable.
Extract map A fairly large map that was recently expanded and is expected to receive an overhaul within a patch or two, due to the choke point design of the map. Essentially, players spawn either on 'warehouse' or 'boiler (stacks)' side. If you see a large red warehouse ('big red') near you (Customs Warehouse), then you spawned on the warehouse side. If you don't, you likely spawned near Boiler side. Players can also spawn in several places in the woods North of boilers. This map has the most quests in the game. Geared players often come to customs to challenge other squads over Dorm loot and to fight a Scav boss. New players are usually trying to do one of several early quests, such as ‘Debut’ which tasks them with killing 5 scavs on Customs and acquiring 2 MR-133 shotguns (pump shotties) from their corpses. Construction is also a popular hotspot as it has a lot of scav spawns as well as the location for the Bronze Pocketwatch, which is Prapor’s second quest. Customs itself does not offer very much loot on average. There are several spots which can contain decent, but the vast majority is located in a couple different locations. Dorms is the best loot location for Customs. It has two sets, 2 story and 3 story dorms. They each have their own sections of good loot, but the best is considered to be 3 story dorms, due to the presence of the Marked Room. The marked room requires a marked key to open, and has a good chance to spawn rare loot, such as keytools, documents cases, weapons cases, and high-end weapons. Due to the nature of the high value of this room, it’s almost always contested and it’s one of the best rooms in the game to farm, albeit with difficulty to successfully extract with the loot found. Note, though the key required has a maximum amount of uses, it is a fairly cheap key, and worth buying if you like to run customs and go to Dorms. Dorms also has a ton of early quests (Operation Aquarius, for one) with some keys being valuable to use, but most dorms keys aren’t worth that much on the market. There’s too many to list here, but make sure to check the Map Keys and You at the top of the guide to determine what the value of a particular key is. Checkpoint (Military Checkpoint) is also a decent loot spot, though not nearly as good as Dorms. If you have the key, it has a grenade box and 2 ammo boxes which can spawn good ammo. The jacket in the blue car also can spawn good medical keys as well as medical items. It is very close to the gas station, so I’ll include that here as well. The Gas Station is one of the possible spawn locations for the scav boss. It has loose food items, a weapon box in the side room, with two keyed rooms leading to a safe and a med bag and box. Also contains a couple registers and food spawns on the floor. The emercom key can spawn on the seat in the ambulance out front. North of the gas station is the Antenna, which contains 3 weapon boxes, a tool box, and a med bag. Possible location for scav boss spawn, albeit rarely, and also spawns regular scavs, like checkpoint and gas station. Beyond that, there’s scattered loot around the map in different places, but usually not enough to warrant going out of your way for. There’s also scav caches, mostly around the middle road outside construction and around the boiler area. The scav boss for customs is 'Reshala.’ He has 5 guards that have above-average gear and can be tough to deal with solo. The guards tend to be more aggressive than normal scavs, so they can be a lot to handle but are vulnerable to fragmentation grenades or flashbangs due to their close proximity to one another. Reshala himself has a good chance to have one or more bitcoin in his pockets, as well as his unique Golden TT, which is required for a Jaegar quest and used in conjunction with other Golden TT's to purchase a Tactec, good plate carrier. Reshala may spawn either Dorms (either bldg), New Gas Station, or rarely the tower north of the gas station. Scav bosses are dangerous enemies with escorts that have above-average loot (sometimes great loot) and are hostile to everyone, Including player scavs. Scav guards will approach a player scav and basically tell them to leave the area, and if they walk closer towards the scav boss they turn hostile. The ‘official’ spawn rate for Reshala is 35%.
Woods Map with Exfil A very large map that is mostly just a large forest, with the occasional bunker, and the Lumber Mill in the center. The Lumber Mill is the primary point of interest, as it contains a couple quest locations and is the primary location to farm Scavs, as Scavs killed on woods are a good source of end-game keys that are hard to find. Since the map is so large and open, sniper rifles with scopes usually reign king here. You will see a lot of players with Mosin rifles as they are a cheap way to train the Sniper skill (for a quest later on) and are capable of killing geared players and scavs alike. Overall, not usually very populated. An early quest from Prapor sends you here to kill a number of Scavs. A good map to learn the game, as although the loot is not fantastic, you can get experience with how the game runs and operates while fighting AI and possibly getting lucky with a key find off a scav. As of .12, Woods now houses a Scav boss that acts as a Sniper scav. He is incredibly dangerous and usually carries a tricked-out SVDS. The 7.62x54 caliber is not to be underestimated. That caliber can and will wreck your shit through what most players are capable of wearing, especially early on in a wipe. He may also carry an AK-105, so he's going to be dangerous at both short and long ranges. He has two guards, and he typically patrols the area around the Sawmill, and carries a key to a cache nearby full of goodies. His key is part of a quest for Jaegar. Woods also has two bunkers, one of them being an extract and requiring a key. Both bunkers have some moderate loot in them, thus worth visiting, though not necessarily worth going out of your way for them. Several quests occur around the sawmill area, which contains a good couple keys that can spawn.
Shoreline Map, with Loot, Exfil, etc A very large map, notorious for its FPS hit. Generally speaking, one of the better maps for loot. The primary point of interest is the Resort, but scavs spawn there, and is primarily occupied by hatchlings (players only with hatchet, ie melee weapon) and geared players. Resort has great loot, but requires keys to access most of it. A great map to learn though from new players as the outskirts still contains plenty of loot and combat opportunities with AI scavs. You can hit Villa, Scav Island, Weather station, Docks, etc and come out with a backpack full of valuable gear fairly easily. The Village (Not to be confused with villa) contains a lot of toolboxes which can contain lots of parts used to upgrade your Hideout. Location of many quests, including a large quest chain where players are required to kill many, many, scavs on Shoreline. For this and other reasons, probably the best map for new players to learn the game with. A good loot route is to hit the village (caches in it), scav island (2 med bags, 2 toolboxes, 2 weapon boxes, 1 cache), burning gas station (weapon boxes and a safe), pier (potential extract, 2 pcs 2 safes and lots of filing cabinets), and weather station. Scavs may spawn around these areas, but most players just head straight for resort anyway, so you are much less likely to encounter them, especially if you avoid Mylta power (most players hit it on the way to or leaving from the resort). Excellent route as a player scav as well.
Detailed map Great, great loot area, but very complex map. Old computers might face unique struggles with this map. Features a mostly-binary exfil system like Shoreline, but.. kinda worse. Exfil camping is fairly common on this map, but usually avoidable. Huge map with multiple floors and many many different stores. Communication with teammates is a challenge on this map, but the map is also fantastically detailed. This map features a lot of loot that depends on the kind of store you're in. It's a great place to farm rare barter materials which are valuable to sell on the Flea market or to use for quests or for hideout upgrades. An early quest (from Ragman) sends you here to kill a large amount of Scavs. I'd recommend getting Ragman to level 2 and accepting his quest asap when going to Interchange, as getting this quest done can take a while as it is and you want all scav kills to count towards progress. Both the tech stores (Techlight, Techxo, Rasmussen) and department stores (Groshan, Idea, OLI) are the primary places to hit. There’s also Kiba (weapons store) as well as Emercom and Mantis. Players have different strategies, but this map is unique in the sense that it really rewards exploring. Most stores will have things you can grab that are worth quite a bit but are often overlooked. Very popular place to go in as a Player Scav.
Brand new map, chock full of loot. Has more complex extracts than other maps, save for Labs. Excellent place to farm rare barter items, computer parts, and especially military hardware. PMCs have limited extracts, most being conditional, and the ones that aren’t require activation of ‘power’ to turn on the extract, which alerts the map the extract has been opened and can spawn Raiders (more on them below.) Additionally, has a scav boss by the name of Glukhar, who has multiple heavily armed guards. He has multiple spawn locations and can arrive with the train.
DISCLAIMER: Labs, like much of Tarkov, is under constant development, so issues may be fixed or created without warning. Always check patch notes!
Labs is a very complex map compared to the rest of Tarkov. There is a great deal more exfiltrations but many of them have requirements or a sequence of events needed to be able to extract from them. It is recommended to read the Tarkov Wiki on Labs before raiding there.
LABS IS NOT LIKE OTHER MAPS. READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY.
Labs is a lucrative end-game raid location, comparable to 'dungeons' in other games. They are populated by tougher enemies that give greater rewards. In order to go to labs, you need to acquire a keycard, this functions like mechanical keys but instead of opening a door, they unlock your ability to select Labs for a raid. They may be found in-raid in various locations, most notably in scavs backpacks, pockets, and in filing cabinets. They may be purchased from Therapist at LL4 for 189K Roubles. Labs are populated by a unique kind of AI enemy, Raiders.
Raiders are the Labs form of Scavs, or AI enemies. However, unlike other maps, they cannot contain player Scavs. Raiders have a much tougher than your average scav, they are capable of advanced tactics (such as flanking) and throw grenades and use other consumables as a player would. Once 'locked' onto you, they are typically capable of killing you very quickly, even if you are wearing high-end armor. In Tarkov, Raiders act like the avatars of Death. They are clad in USEC and BEAR equipment, as they are effectively AI PMCs. Many changes have been made to labs and specifically how Raider AI works and to prevent exploits to easily farm them as well as bugs where they could be deadlier than intended. A general rule of thumb is not to fight Raiders directly. They can and WILL kill you. Raiders can spawn with 7N9, or 'big boy' ammo. This ammunition type is incredibly lethal to players, even those wearing the toughest armor. If you get shot in the head, doesn't matter what kind of helmet, face shield, killa helmet, etc you are wearing, you will almost certainly die. Because Raiders are controlled by AI, they have zero ping. They may also end to immediately respond as if you were aggressive even if they did not originally know you were there - ESP Raiders effectively will prone and return fire even as you ADS and put them in your sights. This is why engaging a Raider must be done very, very carefully. There are a few strategies that you may employ, most commonly some form of baiting them towards an area and then killing them when they arrive. Players may accomplish this by generating noise - gunfire, melee weapon hitting walls, crates, etc, player deaths, players Mumbling (F1 by default) can all attract Raiders to investigate your area. Due to the high power of Raiders, players often go in with minimal loadouts and seek to avoid conflict with other players, especially geared ones. Most players avoid PvP in Labs, though a good portion of the playerbase thoroughly enjoys hunting down poorly-geared players after they kill a few Raiders for them. As such, players will lay prone in a hallway, or crouch in a room, and attract Raiders to enter their domicile by opening the door, and immediately headshotting them. Few Raiders actually wear helmets (though some do) so most players specialize in 'flesh ammo' or, ammunition that foregoes armor penetration in favor of raw damage in order to kill Raiders more reliably, because Raiders have slightly higher head health than PMCs do. Raiders spawn with a great variety of equipment, weapons, armor, and materials such as medication or hideout parts. They tend to have chest armor and may have different helmets. Their pockets can contain Labs keycards, morphine, Ifaks, cash, and other items. They're always worth checking. Raiders are a good source of grenades, they will often have F-1's and Zarya's in their rig or pockets that you can use to fight off players and Raiders alike. Recently, changes have been made to Labs to make them less profitable so that other maps are more appealing. The cost and rarity of keycards increased, as well as reducing the frequency that raiders spawn, so that they come in more infrequent groups but also tighter in formation, while also lowering the overall output of individual Raiders, so that they are less likely to have a bunch of extra materials, such as grenades and other items.
Experience Farming on Labs
Labs is one of the best places to farm experience in the entire game. Killing a Raider with a headshot awards 1100 Experience. This does not include any looting, inspection (searching bodies), examine, streak, or other experience. Killing a large sequence of Raiders gives additional bonus experience in the form of Streak rewards, usually 100 bonus exp per additional kill. Surviving the raid multiplies all of these sources of experience by 1.5x
Changes coming to Labs
Disclaimer: I am not a BSG developer or employee. This is what I have seen on this subreddit and heard elsewhere. Some might be purely rumor, but other points are confirmed by Nikita Labs is undergoing constant changes. Nikita and BSG take feedback seriously, and always consider what the players are telling them. It known that Labs will eventually be accessed via the Streets of Tarkov map, and will require you to enter that map, make it to the labs entrance, and then extract from Labs to return to Streets of Tarkov and exfil from there as well. This will likely add an additional layer of risk to being ambushed for your goodies along your way out, as well as punishing damage taken in labs more severely. Additionally, keycards will have a limited number of uses, and may open more than one room. The full extent of the changes coming is not known. Remember, you can load a map in OFFLINE mode to practice against bots or to learn the map without fear of losing gear.
Tarkov's Health System
Tarkov Wiki Article Tarkov has a very advanced health system, and while it might seem overwhelming at first, you'll get the hang of it rather quickly. It features a very wide variety of effects and injury, including hydration, energy, blood pressure, blood loss, fractures, contusion, intoxication, exhaustion, tremors and more. Not all of the Health System is implemented yet. Expect changes! Your character (PMC, or otherwise) has a combined Health of 435. Each of his limbs have separate health. Taking damage to a limb that reduces it to 0 'blacks' that limb. Blacked limbs are a problem. They greatly impair the activities your PMC performs, and taking damage in a blacked limb amplifies the damage by a multiplier and spreads that damage among your other non-black limbs equally. You cannot heal a blacked limb without the use of a Surgical Kit. Notes:Bloodloss applies damage to the affected limb and can be spread like other damage to a blacked limb. Treat immediately. Also causes significant dehydration! Bloodloss also helps level your Vitality skill, which in turn gives you experience towards your Health skill, which is necessary to reach level 2 of in order to improve your hideout. Losing a limb applies additional effects. Fractures also apply these effects but not the damage amplification (Except for damage if running on fractured leg.) Fractures require specialized medical kits to heal. Dehydration is what happens when your Hydration level reaches 0. You can view your Hydration level in your gear page, at the bottom left. Becoming dehydrated is extremely bad. You take constant damage. Taking dehydration damage can kill you if you have a black chest or head. Restoring hydration helps train Metabolism, which improves positive effects from food and drink. Head/Chest: Bullet damage resulting in losing your head or chest is instant death. Note: Bloodloss resulting in your Head/Chest being black does not result in death, but any damage to them beyond that point will! A back chest will causes you to cough (much like your stomach!) Painkillers: Prevents coughing that comes from your chest. Doesn't help otherwise. Stomach: Massively increased rate of dehydration and energy loss. You must find liquids or exit the Raid soon. Additionally, your PMC will cough sputter loudly, attracting attention. A black stomach multiplies damage taken by 1.5 and redistributes that damage across your entire health pool. Painkillers: Significantly reduces the frequency and volume of the coughs. Arms: Makes activities like searching, reloading, etc, take additional time, as well as adding a sway, reducing accuracy. Arms have a .7x damage multiplier. Painkillers: Reduces sway, removes debuff Pain. Legs: Blacked legs cause your PMC to stumble and be unable to run. Blacked legs have a 1x damage multiplier. Painkillers: Allows you to walk at full speed and to run. WARNING: Running while your legs are blacked or fractured WILL DAMAGE YOU.
Tarkov features many health items - 'Aid' items, which can be used to restore your characters health and to fix ailments or injuries he receives as the result of combat or mishaps. The two most important health conditions to consider are bloodloss and fractures, which have both been covered above. Some food items may have ancillary effects, such as losing hydration. Since in the current patch the only ailments to worry about are bleeding and fractures, it changes which health items are most necessary. We'll go over them below.
Medical Items on Wiki AI-2 medkit The newb's medical kit. You receive several of these when you start Tarkov - they'll already be in your stash. Available from Level I Therapist, they are cheap and effective way of healing early in the game. They will not stop bloodloss. Because of this, you also need to bring bandages or a higher-grade medical kit. Affectionately called 'little cheeses' by the Tarkov community. Using it takes 2 seconds, and because of how cheap it is, it's often brought in by higher level players to supplement their healing without draining their main kit (which is capable of healing bloodloss or sometimes fractures). Due to its short use time, it's often very useful during combat as you can take cover and quickly recover damage taken to a vital limb. They're also useful as you can buy them from Therapist to heal yourself if you died in a raid. Bandages The newb's bloodloss solution. Available from Therapist at Level I. A better version, the Army Bandage is available at Level II, after a quest. Mostly obsolete after unlocking the Car Medical kit, but some players value them due to the Car's overall low health pool. Activating takes 4 seconds, and removes bloodloss to one limb. Splint The newb's solution to fractures. Cheap, takes five seconds to use, and takes up 1 slot. Fractures are much more common this patch, due to them being added back in the game from standard bullet wounds, not just drops. Available from Therapist at Level I, no quest needed. Can be used to craft a Salewa. Alu Splint More advanced form of the normal split. Works the same, but has up to 5 uses. Recommended to carry in your container if possible, due to frequency of fractures from gunfire. CMS (Compact Medical Surgery) Kit New medical item added in .12, fantastic item. Allows you to perform field surgery, removing the black limb state and allowing you to heal it beyond 0 hp. Takes 16 seconds to use, and cannot be cancelled so make sure you are safe if you are using it! Will reduce the maximum health of the limb it's used on by 40-55%, but will effectively remove all negative effects incurred by having a black limb. Highly recommended to carry in your container for emergencies. Can be bartered from Jaeger LL1, and purchased for roubles LL2. Surv12 field surgical kit Same as the compact surgical kit, but takes 4 seconds longer, and the health penalty is reduces to 10-20% max health of the limb. Considering this kit is 1x3, taking up a huge amount of space, it's probably not worth using. It's just too large. Better this than nothing, though. Car Medical Kit The newb's first real medical solution. Available LL1 as a barter (2 Duct Tape) and available for Roubles after completing Therapist's second quest. Has a larger health pool than AI-2's (220, vs AI-2's 100), and removes bloodloss. Takes up a 1x2 slot, so requires to be placed in a tactical rig in order to be used effectively. Cheap and fairly efficient, takes a standard 4 seconds to use. Rendered effectively obsolete when the Salewa is unlocked. Often kept in a player's secure container as a backup health pool, before IFAKs are unlocked. Salewa Good medkit for use in mid and end-game. Contains 400 total health and can remove bloodloss. More rouble efficient form of a healing due to its high health pool, costs 13k roubles. Same size as the Car medical kit, so requires a tactical rig to use effectively. Because Tarkov does not currently have effects like Toxication in the game at the moment, this kit is favored by most players who go into a raid with at least a moderate level of gear. With a high health pool and relatively low cost, it's also a more efficient way of healing damage sustained while in raids. Unlocked at Therapist Level II after completing a level 10 Prapor quest, Postman Pat Part II. Required as part of Therapist's first quest, Shortage. This makes Salewas very valuable early on in a wipe as it gatekeeps the rest of Therapist's quests, most of which occur on Customs early on. Can be crafted in your meds station with a painkiller, splint, and bandage. IFAK Fantastic medical kit, and is the one preferred by most players. Features 300 health and the ability to remove bloodloss and a host of other negative effects that are not yet implemented into the game. It does not, however, remove fractures. Taking up only a single slot, it is favored by players in all stages of gear, and it is recommend to carry one in your Secure Container in case of emergencies. Is available at Therapist Level II for a barter (Sugar + Sodium), and may be purchased for Roubles at Level III after completing Healthcare Privacy, Part I. It is a fairly expensive kit, but due to its durability, its small size, and ability to remove bloodloss, it is a very common medical item used by players of all levels. Can be crafted in Lvl 2 medstation. Grizzly The 'big daddy' medical kit, boasting an impressive total health resource of 1800. It is also a very large kit, taking up 4 slots (2x2) - in order to be able to use this quickly, it would require specialized tactical rigs that feature a 2x2 slot. It removes all negative effects (some costing HP resource), including fractures. Used by highly-geared players who intend on staying in raids for an extended period of time, or by players with additional Secure Container space available in case of emergencies. It is available for barter at Therapist Level II, and purchase at Therapist Level 4. Due to its price point from Therapist at just under 23k Roubles and its healthpool of 1800, it is by far the most efficient method of healing from raid damage, at a 1.3 roubles per health, dramatically lower than other options available. Can be crafted in Lvl 3 medstation.
Using any of these items results in your character being 'On Painkillers' which allows you to sprint on fractured and blacked legs, as well as reducing effects of fractures and blacked limbs, and removing the debuff Pain. Essentially, the only difference between most of these items are the speed of use, price, availability, and duration of the effect. Note that the Hideout has changed how some of these items are used, and because Tarkov is under constant development, it is very likely that these materials may be used to create higher-grade medkits or to upgrade your medstation. That being the case, it's best to hoard the unknown items for now as efficiently as possible until you know you don't need them. Analgin Painkillers The holy grail of pain medication. "Painkillers" have 4 total uses. The total duration is greater than Morphine and less risk of waste. Takes a short time to use, and is available from Therapist Level 1 for both barter and Roubles. Makes a loud, distinctive gulping noise. Can be used to craft Salewa kits. Morphine Quick application of painkillers. Favored by some highly geared players as it has greater usability in combat then it's typical counterpart, Painkillers. Has a longer duration, but only one use. It is required for a fairly early Therapist (and a late Peacekeeper) Quest, so it is recommend to hoard 10 of them, then sell the rest unless you intend on using them. They are worth a good amount to Therapist and take up little space so they are a valuable loot item. Available from Therapist for Roubles at Level 4, after completing Healthcare Privacy, Part 3. Augmentin Basically a cheaper Morphine. One use, 205s. Not recommended over Painkillers due to its cost. No current barter for this item, so usually it's just a fairly expensive, small loot item. Most likely a component of a medstation manufacturing process or upgrade. Keep it. Ibuprofen Powerful painkiller. Lasts 500 seconds and has 12 uses. This item is recommended as your long-term solution for painkillers. While it is valuable because it's used to trade for THICC items case, it's the cheapest component and is very useful as a painkiller. It has a long duration and a large amount of uses, so keep it in your container for use as a painkiller if your primary painkillers wear off. Don't use it completely up, though. Keep the 1/12 bottles for the trade. Vaseline Powerful medical item. Cannot be purchased from dealers. Has a maximum of 10 uses. Removes Pain, applies Painkillers for 500 seconds (8.3 minutes). Useful to keep in your container as an alternative to Painkillers, though it takes 6 seconds to use, which is longer than other painkillers. Used as part of a barter trade for the Medcase. Golden Star Balm Fairly useful medical item. It can remove Pain and Contusion (not a big deal of a debuff, goes away on its own shortly) and provides a small bonus to hydration and energy. It also removes toxication and Radiation exposure, both of which are not yet implemented into the game. Like Vaseline, has a maximum of 10 uses. Painkiller effect lasts for 10 minutes, and takes 7 seconds to apply. Recommended to take only if you are going on large maps and you have extra room in your container. Can be used with Ibuprofen and 5x Med parts to craft 7 Propital.
Instructions unclear: LineageOS on Samsung Galaxy S10+
Hey all! I'm having a bit of trouble following a guide from XDA developers forum for flashing LineageOS on my new Samsung Galaxy S10+ (SM-G975 / exynos). If the contents/topic of this post are not fit for this sub, I'd really appreciate a pointer in the right direction. First time poster, mobile formatting, etc. Tl;dr: I'm new to flashing ROMs, not sure if the instructions I'm following make sense. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills and want to make sure that I am in fact following a procedure that makes sense. I'm not new to computers by any means, or I wouldn't be trying to modify my phone with a custom ROM. I'm attempting to flash my phone with the latest version of LineageOS using this guide.
Make sure you are on Q stock firmware (All of the Q firmwares are tested and confirmed to be working, This should be the case with new fws too as long as Samsung doesnt significantly change bootloader trustzone bits) Download Q twrp from this thread flash twrp as per given instructions if you are coming from stock and have encryption enabled format data (Note i said format, Wiping it in twrp is not the same as formating it) wipe cache, dalvik cache and system flash LineageOS If you want to have gapps flash them right after flashing the rom before first booting Reboot the device
Q TWRP instructions linked above (copying on mobile from that site is atrocious, I've attempted to reformat things):
Code: # f=/storage/emulated/0/Download/magisk_patched.img; dd if=$f of=/dev/block/sda15 bs=$(stat -c%s $f) 1+0 records in 1+0 records out 61734912 bytes transferred in 0.426 secs (144917633 bytes/sec)
If TWRP is already installed and you are merely updating it, you may, of course, use TWRP itself to flash the new version. If the device is not yet rooted (or even if it is), you may use Odin in Windows, but you will need to rename and tar the image first. Otherwise, Odin will not understand what to do with the image. For example:
Code: $ mv twrp-beyondlte.img recovery.img $ tar cf twrp-beyondlte.img.tar recovery.img
And if rebooting to Windows is too disruptive, there's always Heimdall: Code: $ sudo heimdall flash --RECOVERY twrp-beyondlte.img
Part of the preamble for the above TWRP instructions mentioned that for Samsung system-as-root devices, these instructions should be followed to root the device using Magisk (pay attention to the italicized step):
Download the firmware for your device.
Unzip the firmware and copy the AP tar file to your device. It is normally named as AP_[device_model_sw_ver].tar.md5
Install the latest Magisk Manager
In Magisk Manager: Install → Install → Select and Patch a File and select the AP tar file.
Magisk Manager will patch the whole firmware file and store the output to [Internal Storage]/Download/magisk_patched.tar
Copy the patched file to your PC with adb pull /sdcard/Download/magisk_patched.tar. Do not use MTP as it is reported to corrupt files.
Reboot to download mode, and flash magisk_patched.tar as AP in Odin, together with the BL, CP and HOME_CSC files. Never flash only an AP file, as Odin can shrink your /data file-system if you do. Important: Uncheck “Auto Reboot” in Options!
Magisk is now successfully flashed to your device! But there are still several steps before you can properly use the device.
Okay, weird call-out in the Magisk installation instructions to install Magisk . . . Maybe that's just something I'm unfamiliar with. It's both a program, and also some sort of firmware modification or framework? Let's look at the official Magisk Manager page and see what they say. Okay, so now I'm going to first install the Magisk Manager .apk in order to flash Magisk on my phone. Then I use Magisk Manager to flash TWRP onto my phone. Then I can continue with the rest of the LineageOS instructions. I want to make sure I've gotten all of the above correct. Reading back through these instructions, they seem more clear than when I read through them last night. But I still feel hesitant. Can I get a sanity check here? Thanks so much in advance!
[FO4] (Support) Fallout 4 CTD on game start, no mod or load order changes made.
Mod list and system specs at the end of this post. Hi everyone, I'm suddenly having a CTD issue and I simply can't figure out what's causing the problem. I've started a fresh install of fo4 + mods using Vortex (NMM), and for a few weeks have been playing without issue. Last night the game started loading to a black screen for roughly 2 seconds, then crashing with no error, the only change I've made since my last session was to create a merged patch via fo4edit, issue persists with the merged patch disabled. Troubleshooting steps I've taken so far: Reinstall fo4 script extender opened all mods on fo4edit and simply closed (suggested somewhere in the nexus forums) restoring .ini backups that were auto created -- I'm in the process of disabling one mod at a time to find the problem, but so far I've had no luck, or simply can't find the combination of mods that might be causing the issue. My loadlist is below, I know there are a few conflicts but other than a little minor weirdness I've had no ctd issues until this started. At this point I'm at a loss on what to try other than a fresh install of the game and all mods, I'm saving this as my last step since I have very little time to play in any given day, and need to fill my fo4 itch =P. Any help or advice at all would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance. Mod list is as follows:

Open the Windows Registry editor via the “Regedit” command.
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft. Open the Microsoft folder.
Right-click on the folder and choose “New Key.” Name the key “EdgeUpdate.”
Left-click on the new “EdgeUpdate” folder you only created, if it isn’t automatically selected. you'll need to scroll to the rock bottom of the registry — on my machine, the “EdgeUpdate” folder was created at the very bottom of the list. Once you click thereon, you’ll see one “default” key and zip else.
5. Right-click under the “Default” option and choose “New,” followed by “DWORD (32-bit) Value”. 6. Name the DWORD “DoNotUpdateToEdgeWithChromium.” 7. Double-click the DWORD you only created. Change the worth within the “Value Data” field from 0 to z. You are doing not got to touch the “Hexadecimal” versus “Binary” field. 8. The last step is to reboot your machine. this may prevent Microsoft from updating Edge automatically. I can’t find specific data on now, but you ought to still be ready to manually install the browser if you would like to. Why Is Microsoft Importing Firefox and Chrome Data? You might want to avoid Microsoft’s new Chromium Edge for one reason: It imports your user data from Firefox and Chrome without permission. Here’s how the method typically works: 1. Run the browser installer.
The browser installer asks if you would like to import your data from another browser.
3. You select “Yes” or “No” and proceed with the installation. Here’s how Microsoft’s new Edge does it: 1. Run the browser installer.
The browser imports a number of your data from other browsers.
The browser asks if you'd wish to import your data.
If you say “Yes,” you’ll never notice the matter because you chose to merge your data pools. If you say “No,” the installer is meant to delete your data. However, Microsoft has noted that if you stop the installer early, some “residual data” may remain. But here’s the rub: once you launch Windows 10 after updating Edge, the sting installer runs automatically, which suggests Microsoft is gobbling down your data, failing to delete it upon exit, and claiming the whole process is somehow beneficial. When asked about this activity, Microsoft responded: We believe browser data belongs to the customer and that they have the proper to make a decision about what they ought to do with it. Like other browsers, Microsoft Edge offers people the chance to import data during setup. This is claptrap, start to end. Microsoft isn't respecting personal data privacy within the slightest by starting the import process before even asking if you would like to, then failing to delete data if you don’t. albeit you aren’t concerned about the privacy aspects of the difficulty, you would possibly not want Firefox or Chrome data in your new Edge installation. I can’t represent people, but I subdivide my browser use by activity. I run Edge with no add-ons whatsoever, so I always have a browser I can use to see a recalcitrant website. I exploit it for streaming because Chrome still won’t stream above 720p on Windows 10. I exploit it for various tasks than I exploit Firefox and Chrome, and that I don’t mix data between them. We’ve inveighed against the Windows 10 update model so often, I’m honestly uninterested in doing it. Five years after Windows 10 launched, I see no evidence that the corporate has improved perceptions of Windows as a stable OS, and an excellent deal of evidence suggesting that it's not. I even have written many more stories about failures in Windows 10 following each of Microsoft’s upgrade pushes than I ever wrote about, say, Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 SP1. Yes, Windows gets updated more often, and yes, Microsoft has added some nice features over five years, particularly when it involves monitoring system performance. But those improvements have come at the value of near-endless troubleshooting and a few serious, high-profile screwups. it's going to not appear as if it, due to how our site displays multiple URLs in sequence, but each of the words linked above points to a special story. It wasn’t hard to seek out the examples, either. Microsoft has published data claiming that Windows 10 generates far fewer problems or user issues than previous versions of the OS. I even have no proof that it isn’t true. From a press perspective, however, the constant drumbeat of Windows 10 failures is downright wearying. whenever Microsoft releases a replacement version, I decide to write another few stories about everything new that’s broken. Since Microsoft won’t follow Apple and Google’s lead and release one update per annum, we get to go to this subject a minimum of twice. Often it’s considerably more, since individual Patch Tuesday updates often break things, too. Microsoft could also be making real progress as far because of the absolute number of individuals who are impacted by problems, version after version. Perception isn’t always reality, and forum discussions are dominated by people that have problems, not people that don’t. But this constant, unending drumbeat of issues can't be doing Windows 10 any favors in how people perceive its reliability, albeit the underlying situation is different. I have been studying binary options vs forex for a while now figuring out the best way to go. For me at the present moment binaries give me the best hope for making a decent amount from a small account. I am looking into different ways to trade including EAs (hence why I joined this forum!). In my humble opinion trade with binary options is less profitable than forex. In forex you can win with a 20% of winner trades cause your profits are unlimited if you know how manage it. In b.options you start from a negative r:r and you need at least a system with a minimum 60% or winning trades. However, binary options has much lower entry requirements, as some brokers allow people to start trading with as low as $10. Disadvantages of Binary Trading Reduced Trading Odds for Sure-Banker Trades. The payouts for binary options trades are drastically reduced when the odds for that trade succeeding are very high.
