Bitcoin - The Currency of the Internet
A community dedicated to Bitcoin, the currency of the Internet. Bitcoin is a distributed, worldwide, decentralized digital money. Bitcoins are issued and managed without any central authority whatsoever: there is no government, company, or bank in charge of Bitcoin. You might be interested in Bitcoin if you like cryptography, distributed peer-to-peer systems, or economics. A large percentage of Bitcoin enthusiasts are libertarians, though people of all political philosophies are welcome.
After years of selling board games and dice at events, COVID is causing me to have to focus a lot more on internet sales so I'm finally updating my website a bunch. One of the things I want to do is accept bitcoin - does anyone have a recommendation between bitpay, coinbase commerce or something else? Are there other cryptocurrencies I should be accepting in addition?
So someone told me if I accept bitcoins on my website, I get free advertising/upvotes from you guys?
I sell cosplay costumes through my Shopify site: www.cosforia.com. They just fully integrated with Bitpay, which lets me accept bitcoin payments while being insulated from exchange rate fluctuations. So I figured, why not, there's literally no harm to me for doing my part to support bitcoin adoption, and I might even get an extra sale or two. I'm also doing a Bitcoin Black Friday sale - 25% off everything with discount code: Satoshi. I only just started learning about this thing, but I'm already very excited to see where it goes! Edit: Thanks Shaypar from Shopify for enabling the bitcoin payment icon on my site!
Hello, I would like to accept Bitcoin on my site but how exactly do I do this? I can't run a wallet because my VPS only has a 20GB drive, I would like to use electrum but there doesn't seem to be any clear guides on how to use it. And no, I don't not want to use Bitpay or anything like that. Any suggestions?
How can I accept Bitcoins on my website as an individual?
I hope this question isn't a duplicate but I can't find the answer on reddit or anywhere else. I sell products through my website as a hobby so there is no business involved, it's just me. I have a Paypal button for people to pay and I want to add a Bitcoin button but I can't find one for individuals. I tried Bitpay but you need to host php files and my website is hosted on tumblr so I can't use php. I also tried Coinbase and their iframe solution was perfect until I realized it's only for businesses. Is there a service that does this?
Coinbase's customer service is non-existant. I have messaged three times about how to integrate with their website and my messages go into a black hole. mtgox looks like it has the most functional system, but it would require a bit of programming to support it. I need to pass a user id to the payment processor so I can know in the payment confirmation postback who paid for my service. Are there any other services that make it stupid simple to implement/
Looking for a simple API to accept Bitcoin on my website.
I maintain a closed (invite-only) community around a game server, and people donate money to keep it running and get items in it. For the most part they use PayPal, but some have asked about Bitcoin, so I've taken to process those manually. But that's a pain when it comes to item unlocks. I have bare metal access to the servers and fairly knowledgeable in PHP, Perl and C/C++; so I just need to be pointed in the direction of something that will allow me to watch for payments at addresses I generate. I don't want to have to install a full Bitcoin blockchain to the server, though, so I'm looking for something more close to how Electrum works, where I can query a server and get results back. I know not checking the blockchain myself means there's a chance for fraud, but in that case I can just ban the person, so I'm not worried. Is there a established API that would do what I want? Are the Electrum servers okay with non-Electrum clients using them? Is there another sort of service being operated by a party trusted by the community to achieve the same thing?
Hi , We Just started a new Web Design Service on the Internet , and we are willing to accept Bitcoins on our website . My friend started to accept bitcoin on his online books store via GoCoin but they closed his merchant account after some time maybe because He is in Africa and so we are . This why we need the best way to setup independent gateway on our website or to find some good merchant service to support us . All we need is a simple way to generate payment page for each customer and send the bitcoins to our blockchain.info wallet . Thanks ,,
I'd like to be able to accept bitcoin as a payment on my website. I'm still in the early part of designing it. I got accepted with the Coinbase merchant and I think it would be best to use the Coinbase hosted page for what I need. I can't seem to figure out what to do about shipping or wanting to buy multiple items. Is there a cart that Coinbase has or do I have to use a website that allows their plug in? Edit: I don't have much money. I'm just one guy trying to build the site and make the products and everything myself.

I sell men's leisurewear via my site - Yimps.com. I am using the Bitpay Shopify integration. I figured it wouldn't hurt throwing the gateway up there and am all about doing my part to support bitcoin adoption/help increase the value of the bitcoin community. Recently started reading into the crypto-currency, specifically, reads from Andreas Antonopoulos, Marc Andreessen, and the Satoshi pdf. Also looked into platforms such as Coinbase and Bitreserve. Huge believer now. It seems using it as a vehicle for transactions is where it will play a key role in the disrupt of our current financial system.
