💎THE RESULTS: RomanceClub Community Survey!💎
First of all, thank you very much to everyone who took part in the second ever Reddit Romance Club community survey! We mods were absolutely amazed by the high number of responses, so thank you for making this such a vibrant and engaged community! You all rock.
After grinding the (many) numbers, here are the results, which we hope you will find as interesting as we did.
Just a note: this survey was opened at the end of May and closed shortly after the June release, hence its questions only barely included Legend of the Willow and did not include Dracula: a Love Story. For this reason, we have not counted the (very few) replies that have been given in the "other" boxes mentioning characters that were not yet available as Lis/known as LIs in the May release (think Leo, Vlad, Kazu etc) as this would have not been fair to those who had answered the survey before the June update.
Having said that... buckle up for the ride! Lots of interesting info ahead.

💎Question 1: Which RC story is your favourite?

https://preview.redd.it/rlq02ktm0y951.png?width=1890&format=png&auto=webp&s=7ac99dcf156eba4a1e7a25e118cedb51ed21847c
No one will be surprised to find out that Heaven's Secret is the top story in this community right now, chosen by over 45% of the respondents. Our nostalgic heart is very happy, however, to see some old favs still make the podium - albeit trailing significantly behind. Moonborn and Shadows of Saintfour score second and third place, only separated by a handful of votes at around 11%, but newer release Chasing You is already breathing on their neck at 10.7%.
A healthy mix of new and old stories follows: Sails in the fog is in fifth place with 7.8% of the preferences, while Legend of the willow, after only a few episodes, already scores a very good sixth place, in a tie with Seduced by the rhythm at 4.3% of the votes. Queen in 30 days is seventh with 3.5% and My Hollywood Story is eighth with 1.2%.
Last place goes to Wave Patrol at 0.4%, which sadly doesn't come as a shock given the general feeling that the romantic/reputation points system was too complicated.
----

💎Question 2: Who are your favourite LIs?

https://preview.redd.it/x17lqdnw3y951.png?width=1020&format=png&auto=webp&s=6d560448445a77f5f076fcce43358b1dbb94c094
HS being the most popular story unsurprisingly propels some of its main LIs onto the podium with supersonic speed.
Bad boys rule, with Lucifer taking the crown with a whopping 65.7% of the votes and Alexander (CY) taking silver at 49.3%. The nice guys are not too far behind, though, with Dino in third place at 47.4% and Max (MB) only just about missing the podium in fourth place at 45.3%. We go back to bad boys with Brandon (SBR) in fifth, but soft spoken Sam (CY) is ready to balance things out again with his sixth place.
The most surprising result on top of the rankings is Jake (WP) who makes the top ten with a very healthy seventh place. He is really hard work, but obviously we all think he's totally worth it!
Old favourites Michael (SOS) and Victor (MB) still hold onto the hearts of their fans by scoring eight and ninth place respectively. First among the women - and the only female LI to make the top 10 - is the delightfully devilish Mimi (HS).
Waves' mate Sebastian misses the top ten only by a hair, placing himself in 11th place with a healthy 20.7%. Bodyguard Adam is the most favourite LI in Q30 in 12th place, followed by a row of SOS boys, with John, Derek and Aaron scoring very similar percentages in 13th, 14th and 15th place respectively. Sweetheart Ray is no longer the most favourite LI to come out of MHS, as in this round he ends up in a tie for 16th place with none other than his almost polar opposite, rough and ready Captain Jeff.
Leonard from Q30 (17th place) ties with Cherry from SOS but at least he beats his brother Richard (20th place) in the heart of the readers - and we all know that he'd be pretty pleased with that. Claire (SBR) is the second most favourite female LI in 18th place, while mysterious Luke (SOS) completes the top 20 in 19th place.
Here are the rest of the Lis who placed lower than the top 20:
(21) Carlos (SBR) 9.2%
(22) Justin (SBR) 8.6%
(23) Benny Bart (MB) 8.4%
(24) Tarino (MHS) 8.1%
(25) Gino (MHS) tied with Stephanie (SOS) at 7.8%
(26) Dante (MB) 6.9%
(27) Andy (HS) 6.3%
(28) Mike (MHS) 6.1 %
(29) Alek (WP) tied with Dante (CY) at 5.9%
(30) Kayla (WP) 5.3 %
(31) Alex (MHS) 3.9%
(32) Chris (SIF) 3.4%
(33) Frances (MB) 3.2%
(34) William (SIF) 3.1%
(35) Trisha (MB) 2.6%
(36) Charles (SBR) 2.1%
(37) Orlando (SBR) 1.8%
(38) Chris the bodyguard (MHS) tied with Adi (HS) at 1.6%
(39) Ellen (MHS) tied with Manta (SIF) at 1.2%
(40) Masked Man (SOS) 1.1%
(41) Ellia (CY) 0.8%
(42) Mermaid (SIF) 0.6%
(43) Simon (MB) 0.4%
(44) Charles (WP) tied with Emma (Q30) and Jackie (SIF) at 0.2%.
These lower rankings include some LIs that, based on the discussions we see on the subreddit, we were not expecting to get as many votes as they did - and vice versa. Dante from CY has more votes than Orlando from SBR? And Chris the bodyguard (MHS) beat the Masked Man (SOS)? Say what... Also: Jackie (SIF) definitely deserved a lot more votes! We might have to start a hashtag or something.

💎Question 3: Which non-LI character you’d romance in a heartbeat?

https://preview.redd.it/vd1u59tk10a51.png?width=863&format=png&auto=webp&s=df9e41d03e7af6b60396f96dbfed685b8e425b8e
Here are the top 15 most desired LIs in this community:
To absolutely no one's surprise, Geralt (HS) takes the top spot with 39.1% of the readers eager to unbuckle his sexy neck belts at the first occasion. Dreamy Xander from MB takes a very respectable second place with 23.2%: we will forever long for his full lips and crisp linen suit. Another MB favourite, Prince Ethan Wood completes the podium with his Matrix-style coat and intense eyes, but sassy and sexy demon Austie (HS) is not very far behind in fourth place.
Vampires Dustin Chase in fifth place and - although at quite a distance - Sophia in sixth join the ranks of the many LIs who sadly never were in MB. Cute lifeguard Zoey from WP ranks seventh, and no worries if you don't remember who she is: her screen time was about 5 minutes total - but enough to end up in a tie with angelic mentor Misselina from HS. Frenemy Candy from SOS makes eighth place, while evil stunner Monica from MB clutches ninth. To complete the top 10 is no one else but grumpy Angel Fencio (HS) - we obviously all want him to show us his collection of talismans - tied with Bean from MHS, who sadly had the audacity to get married to someone else.
In 11th place is SOS great friend Bobby, whose bravery in the face of untold horrors gave him a special place in all our hearts, in a tie with another WP lifeguard, Ryan (yeah, we have little recollection of him as well). Party-loving and OSHA nemesis Anthony Wood (MHS) is in 12th place, while scheming yet gorgeous Julia (Q30) takes 13th.
In 14th place is no one else but our dear Sailor Bobby - an option that was added as humorous but instead raked up a fairly respectable 14% of votes. As they say, if you are not handsome you should be handy, and no one is a better dress maker than Bobby! Plus, how can we forget when he disguised himself as a tribesman to save Adelaide from becoming soup? He ends up in a tie with a fan favourite, sweet angel Sammy (HS). Completing the top-15 is another HS angel, the ethereal Leeloo.
This question also had an "other" box, where people could add names that were not included in the list. For all those (quite a few!) people who wrote Dino (HS), Sam (CY) and Orlando (SBR)... we choose to believe you misread the question, but if you didn't... oh boy, have we got good news for you!
A few people also wished for Rachel (CY) and Hiro (SBR) to be LIs, so that's another happy ending there as per the latest release.
Some also wished for Diego, Baron Samedi and Jackie from SIF, and Joseph, Christian and Gustavo from SBR to be LIs, and we are happy to say that, although their routes might be a bit hidden and not all of them can be endgame LIs, you can most definitely already hookup with/romance all of them. Check the wiki for details!
A few people asked for the coffee shop owner in CY... we have the feeling that we know who at least one of them is, and truth be told, that beard is dreamy so we can see their point! More bearded LIs please!
Those who asked for Fyr... far from us to kink shame here, but let's just hope he turns out to be human at some point! We also have some Seraph Crowley (HS) and Angel Mora (MB) fans amongst us, as clear proof that no one is ever too old for love, plus WP Agent Phillips' manbun has also scored him some eager fans.
But that one person who asked for Sean from MB... we hope for your sake you are also about 12 years old because otherwise you need an old priest, a young priest and also a police officer.

💎Question 4: Which LI do you think is overrated, and why?

https://preview.redd.it/nea26zpyj2a51.png?width=855&format=png&auto=webp&s=dfeefda0ad627357d4a76c4e2fef0f3b4a42deca
Here are the top 10 most overrated LIs in the game according to our community.
You know how they say never rest on your laurels? In a surprising (or maybe not?) twist of fate, some of the most liked LIs also topped the most overrated rankings, which goes to show that the beauty of our community is that we all have different (and sometimes opposite) opinions! So please let's not fight in the comments, haha.
The most overrated LI crown goes to Lucifer with the 21.9% of the votes, (which is almost as him winning an Oscar and a Razzie on the same evening) mostly due to his behaviour, which many identify as "toxic", "abusive" and "triggering". Many readers are "not comfortable with his choking/manhandling of MC", and his "lack of respect for personal space". "Being treated poorly in the hope to finally reach a hidden soft side does not seem worth it". Some think "he needs therapy", and wonder "why he's still behaving like a teen while he's possibly thousands of years old". A reason why many dislike him however, is also "the daily flood of fanart that features him": we might all be a little Lucifered-out here on the subreddit!
Tied in second place (pun fully intended!) are Alexander (CY) and Victor (MB) at 11.5%: the reasons given for both of them are surprisingly similar. Both boys are into BDSM but neither seem to "truly know the rules of consent" and people think that they "overstep boundaries a little too often". Both have been described as "creepy", "controlling" and "plain weird". Victor is also guilty of being "boring" ("I asked for a tea not for your life story in India!" - someone wrote). Both have been invited to "drop the Christian Grey act" and some people think "they would be arrested in real life if they acted this way". Oh boy.
Justin (SBR) completes this unflattering podium at 9.1% because of his "obnoxious outbursts" and the way he treats MC. He is "rude" and "mean" and people seem to be willing to "pay diamonds to put him in his place". Hopefully that won't be necessary!
Jake from WP is fourth at 7.8%, the main reason being that he is "too difficult to romance", "too expensive and still rude", and that "we have to solve the Da Vinci code to get him" - as someone hilariously wrote.
Bad boy Brandon (SBR) scores 6.1% of the votes landing fifth place, with the word "jerk" being the most recurrently used to describe him. He is "arrogant", a "vanishing act", and "he is never nice to MC for long". Come on, Brandon! You can do better!
Unclaimed Andy (HS) takes sixth place with 4.5% for being "jealous" and "annoying" - although we would maybe argue that he's not really that overrated, as far as we can see from the sub...
In seventh place is Max (MB) at 4.1% but we are confused by the person who mentioned "his abs being too perfect" as a reason for disliking him. Of course, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing, so... fair enough? Other words used are "too boring", otherwise many people voted for him but did not really give a reason why. Max needs to work on his PR clearly!
Another tie in eight place sees Adam (Q30) and Dino (HS) score 3.7% of the votes. The Royal bodyguard is described as "a barbarian" and his behaviour as "possessive" and "controlling", while the main complaints against Dino seem for the vast majority to be directed to his looks: comments range from "his eyes look disproportionally big compared to his head" to "his hair seems separated from his face" to some people calling him a "Fabio lookalike". Beauty is in the eye of the beholder indeed!
Gruff Captain Jeff (MHS) makes ninth with 3.3%, mostly because of "the dodgy power dynamic between him and MC" and his "bullying": "I like puppies is not a free get out of jail card!" someone wrote. The fact that SOS Luke "drugged MC" bags him unanimously the tenth spot with 2.8% of the votes.
Not in the top ten but voted often enough to deserve a special mention are John (SOS) because of his "murderous tendencies", Derek (SOS) because "people only likes him for his glow-up", and Leonard (Q30) as "he took Emma's spot as the third main LI in the story" and "that was a cop out!" Plus "he seems so good only because the other two are the worst", someone quipped.
----

💎Question 5: Which LI do you think is underrated, and why?

https://preview.redd.it/t29ndbj8n2a51.png?width=1007&format=png&auto=webp&s=c817ac45f70f9210476feda212af736ad18b8f17
Let's all cheer ourselves up with the opposite end of the spectrum! Here are the top 10 Lis that the community think deserve more love! The answers in this question were a lot more fragmented, with a lot of random characters getting very few votes, so the ranking percentages are significantly lower than in other questions.
A few people chose to write "every female LI" as this question's answer, and this is reflected in the rankings below, where way more female characters are mentioned compared to other questions. So RC, we need more screen time for badass, gorgeous, interesting female LIs!
HS still carries its weight as the most popular story, with three of its main LIs topping the rankings, all lamenting the fact that they are "unfairly overshadowed by bad boy Lucifer". Andy tops the list with 8.5% of the votes: players think he is "a really good guy", "sweet", "cute", "caring", "thoughtful". They admit "he has flaws" but he "will help if you need him" and "will stand up for those he cares about". It's nice to see him getting some love!
Devil cutie Mimi ends up as a close second with only a few votes of difference, at 8.1%. She is "cute", "badass", and "so cool". Many people wrote they don't usually romance female Lis but they chose her nonetheless because she is "a great LI in every way". Someone wishes RC would "flesh her out a little more" and "give her more screen time". Third spot is for Dino: a "sweetheart" and "the cutest man in the game".
Jake from WP nabs fourth place with the 4.9% of votes. Players thinks the focus is too much on how hard he is to pursue, while "he is totally worth it", because after the initial coldness he becomes "sweet", "kind" and "caring". His "love for his family is another big plus", and he is always "supportive", "mature", "loyal" and "intense". Someone also wrote that "his sex scenes are amazing".
Gorgeous dancer Carlos from SBR is in fifth place: he is described as "cute", "great personality", "respectful" and "the sweetest". One to watch for sure! Prince Leonard (Q30) ties with Claire (SBR) in sixth place. Leonard is "complicated", "interesting" and "clever", while Claire is "sweet", "mature" and "loyal". Seventh position is for Michael (SOS) - "cute", "affectionate", "funny" - and Kayla (WP) who's "really nice" and "one of the first female LIs that didn't seem like a complete afterthought".
Eight place goes to Sam (CY) - "wholesome", "the right amount of naughty and nice", "a sweet and likeable guy" - in a tie with Chris (SIF) - "funny", "strong", "loyal", "always has your back". Ninth place is another tie between Sebastian (SIF) - "sweet" and "supportive" - and Alex (MHS) - "amazing personality", "really helpful".
Last but not least the tenth place is a foursome: William (SIF) gets some love for being "good", "solid", "loyal" and "fun", in a tie with Charles (SBR) - described as "perfect", "romantic" and "caring", as well as "hot", "sexy" and "gentle" - Jackie (SIF) - "an under-appreciated king", "handsome" and "fun", and Frances (MB) - a "real badass" and "one of the best LIs in MB".
So, time to replay your favourite book and try out one of these Lis instead than your usual one!
----

💎Question 6: If you could eat or drink one thing from the RC universe, what would you choose?

https://preview.redd.it/q1oepb874y951.png?width=1108&format=png&auto=webp&s=fbd376a81dffac4123ffdfd8963ef87164466f35
Max (MB) might no longer hold the crown of most loved LI in the game, but his cooking skills still hold strong. A whopping 37.2% of the people in this community would eat anything he prepares. Getting drunk on Glyft at the HS Academy takes second spot with 23.1% of the preferences, while a sugar rush after a light BDSM session in CY is all what the 13.2% of us want, completing this delicious podium.
In fourth place is pizza with a bunch of MHS friends, fifth is potential death - as long as ice cream and Jake from WP are involved - and sixth is Anthony Wood's juice at one of his epic MHS parties.
Dinner at the SOS circus is seventh, chosen by a fearless 3% of the community, while canapés at a jewellery fashion show in Q30 score the eighth and last place.
----

💎Question 7: If you could spend a weekend in any RC story, would you:

https://preview.redd.it/0nxu9upf4y951.png?width=680&format=png&auto=webp&s=2cbcbded6cb23da8f9f16e96e7cd65be46dee8fd
An entire weekend in the RC universe! What mischief is our community planning to get up to?
It looks like HS is once again top of the list, with over 38% of players willing to test their wings and get some strange and possibly corrosive blue liquid down their unclaimed throats. But LOW's gorgeous backgrounds and atmospheric setting have convinced the 16% of us to go explore a Japanese village, and possibly meet some mysterious cutie. Adelaide and her SIF crew navigate steadily in third place: 10.7% of us would follow them over the edge of the world and beyond.
In fourth place is a spot of murder mystery fun in CY, as 10.3% of us would happily explore a British family mansion - bloodshed possible but not guaranteed. A diplomatic trip with the Q30 Sagar Royal Court appeals to the 6.1% of us, especially if a romantic sunset is on the bill. The quaint and frankly unsettling SOS woods do not scare the 5.7% of us, but as long as no one picks up a nice bouquet of flowers, we should all be ok. In seventh place is our favourite vampire popstar Benny Bart (MB) performing at the Taste of the Night, while eighth is a dance marathon in SBR, inclusive of a trip to romantic Paris. Tarino's somewhat unusual directorial skills in MHS score ninth place, while hot surfers in WP's Miami end up last.
----

💎Question 8: If you could get more episodes of a series that has now ended, which one would you choose?

https://preview.redd.it/qts8kk8i9y951.png?width=766&format=png&auto=webp&s=2b7135c2692b604dd9c9ad4b14bafa93cd4ecad0
It's time to go down memory lane! We loved all the stories that RC has now completed, but which one we miss the most?
Side note: SIF and WP were still ongoing when this survey was first opened hence they are not featured in this list.
Horror story SOS takes a clear lead, with over 47% of our community wishing we could get more adventures with MC and her friends. MB is second, with a healthy 34% of readers wishing to spend more time in the company of vampires and werewolves. Q30 is third, with 13.3% of readers missing its Royal Palace and all the intrigue coming with it, and last but not least is comedy MHS, which is missed by 5.4% of this community.
----
And now, some questions about this community's gaming habits:
----

💎Question 9: How do you usually approach LI relationships?

https://preview.redd.it/v31scb2y4y951.png?width=834&format=png&auto=webp&s=6aa1f057936a83909a229f610e50e4a43b17f0d1
This question had a fairly split response between those who date a few LIs but ultimately choose only one (48.9%) and those who are fiercely monogamous from the start (42.4%). A healthy 8.7% of the readers prefer instead to play the field and date as many LIs as the gameplay will allow. And with so many great characters to choose from, that's hardly a surprise!
----

💎Question 10: Would you play a book that has a male MC?

https://preview.redd.it/w15bvu885y951.png?width=826&format=png&auto=webp&s=b748f781448de34a98795a11470adc1e2dfe7129
We all know that at the moment all RC stories are gender-locked with a female MC. But what does the community think? Would we play a book with a male MC? The majority is in favour, with 61.9% of the responders answering with a resounding YES.
----

💎Question 11: Do you use the RC wiki on Fandom?

https://preview.redd.it/j3bxwpgh5y951.png?width=777&format=png&auto=webp&s=97b8b0713957bf5ff133710b8cb1727411ec87c2
Our amazing fan-written Romance Club wiki recently celebrated 100 pages!
It sounds like a whopping 78.8% of this community uses the wiki, while about 14.1% did not know it existed (so we hope you are using it now!) and 7.1% are true daredevils who play without any wiki help.
----

💎Question 12: What genre of story do you enjoy the most?

https://preview.redd.it/9ht7sl4u5y951.png?width=908&format=png&auto=webp&s=834f8b8a3f6a0c9465a3b9e74d5a3f70dfe77b9c
With new stories always coming up, we were curious to know which genres this community enjoys the most.
Despite the game being called Romance Club, the top of the genre ranking goes to Fantasy, with a striking 74.1% of preferences. But no worries: Romance is a steady second with a great 70.8% of the votes. Third place goes to Mystery with 65.7%.
Adventure comes fourth with 55.2%, followed by Horror (42.5%), Historical (35.1%), Science Fiction (29.1%) and finally Comedy (26.4%).
A very small number of people (too little to make percentage) also asked for drama, thriller, detective/crime, heist/spy, high school/teens, superheroes, zombies and time travel. All great ideas!
The community has spoken though: RC, give us elves and gnomes and medieval tales of debauchery and magic!
----

💎Question 13: How long have you been playing Romance Club for?

https://preview.redd.it/irpho4w06y951.png?width=832&format=png&auto=webp&s=2f4cfd29dd89db03bfc910a5355ad8d47844668e
We were curious to know for how long we all have been playing this game we love. The survey showed a good mix of old and new readers, with a clear tendency towards long-term reading, which makes us so very happy to know we are all just equally addicted.
36% stated that they have been playing for over a year, 23.6% for more than six months, 17.8% for more than three months, 16.1% for more than one month and 6.4% for less than a month. Welcome one and all, we hope you are all going to be here for the long haul!
----

💎Question 14: How did you find out about the game Romance Club?

https://preview.redd.it/3rcvli496y951.png?width=745&format=png&auto=webp&s=c48166ce7feee6ee5dab1c00fac3ea6dd3ab43ff
The main way in which our community has found out about RC is through the app store/google play store (70.9%). Another subreddit is a source for 13.5% of us (we probably have to say thank you to our friends at Lovestruck and Choices!) while a friend recommended the game to 8.7% of us.
Instagram (3%) and Facebook (1.5%) are also popular sources, but 2.4% of us arrived to the game through adverts, which is to us the most interesting data since in the mod team we haven't personally seen any adverts for this game - ever - so if anyone has screenshots, please post them in the comments, we are super curious!
Some users (too few to make percentage) also mentioned videos and memes on TikTok or Youtube, Google Search, Tumblr, Twitter, Vkontakte or even their own sister(s) as a source.
----

💎Question 15: Which operating system do you play the game on?

https://preview.redd.it/j6zb31bg6y951.png?width=772&format=png&auto=webp&s=be90706aaa9835b173355c50388a6c5197ac786b
The majority of this community plays on Android (57.7%) while 42.3% play on iOS.
----

💎Question 16: Which other story games do you play?

https://preview.redd.it/pcyngwew6y951.png?width=807&format=png&auto=webp&s=1e3f1f4956dfb8bc4e247d6a179a4153b62fc7da
Here are the top-10 story app games we play in this community, aside from RC.
Unsurprisingly, market leader Choices comes first with 53.3% of the votes. Another giant in the field, Episodes, comes second - although with quite a substantially smaller percentage of votes, clocking at 28.1%. The top-three is completed by UK TV show-inspired Love Island with the 24.6%.
Chapters is the fourth most played game at 24.2%, followed by Lovestruck and Love Sick - tied at 16.1%. Moments is sixth at 13.1%, new entry on the market Stories: Love and choices follows in seventh with 5.3%, Journeys is eighth with 4.7% and The Arcana is ninth with 2.6%. The top-ten is completed by Tabou Stories: Love Episodes in a tie with Originals - both at 1.2%.
Some also reminisced about Storyscapes (gone too soon but not forgotten!) and many other game apps were mentioned but by too few people to make up for an accountable percentage. We surely discovered some games we had never heard of before, though, including: Fictif, Heart's Choice, Everlasting Summer, Fancy Love, Romance: Stories and choices, Secrets: Game of choices, Fictions: Choose your emotions, Mystic Messenger, City of Love and many, many more... so thanks everyone for all these new suggestions!
And to that one person who selected half a dozen games and then commented with "it is a problem!" ... trust us, you are in very, very good company here!!
----
And lastly, some demographics:
----

💎Question 17: Where in the world are you from?

https://preview.redd.it/wi54oynj7y951.png?width=742&format=png&auto=webp&s=67fd4ef85a56518876e64f5f1e35d704dc5d241a
We are a very international bunch, that's for sure! Here are the numbers:
45.5% of this community lives in Europe, 24.3% in North America, 16.9% is in Asia, 5.7% is in Central/South America, 5.3% is in Africa and 2.3% is in Australia/New Zealand. Welcome one and all! We are so happy you are here.
----

💎Question 18: How old are you?

https://preview.redd.it/hgiuu3dq7y951.png?width=785&format=png&auto=webp&s=106185756ec1cfd67c4c1bb94a8bda1ce6f5a6d3
How old are we? The survey has spoken: 44.7% is between the ages of 18 and 24; 28.1% is between 25 and 35; 21.1% is 17 or younger; 6.1 % is 36 or older.
We must admit that we did not expect so many people to be on the younger end of the spectrum! But we hope everyone - of all ages - will always find this subreddit to be a safe, welcoming and friendly place where to discuss this game we all love. We mods work hard every day to keep this the most relaxed and fun RC space on the net and we feel so lucky that you are all as awesome as you are!

💎Question 19: What is your gender identity?

https://preview.redd.it/kkr5bm1x7y951.png?width=810&format=png&auto=webp&s=90068fd1b9c2762f5b181b56af647848529c14e2
The overwhelming majority of this community (93.5%) identifies as female, while 4.6% identifies as male, 1.3% is non-binary, 0,4% identifies as genderqueer and 0.2% marked themselves as confused.
The fact that MC is gender-locked female and that LGBTQ routes are limited in the game is certainly one of the reasons why our community is not more diverse. Hopefully RC will expand their stories to include more diverse gender choices in terms of MCs and LIs, so to allow more people to enjoy their great storytelling skills.
----

💎Question 20: What is your sexual orientation?

https://preview.redd.it/iskgfuk38y951.png?width=749&format=png&auto=webp&s=0d0cd01d9bedfb1f577206939bc22b959bc6921e
Here's the sexual orientation of our community:
70.1% identifies as Straight/Heterosexual
22.5% identifies as Bisexual
1.9% identifies as Lesbian/WLW
1.7% identifies as Pansexual
1.5% identifies as Gay/MLM
0.4% identifies as Aromantic
0.3% identifies as Aromantic/Bisexual
0.3% identifies as Asexual
0.3% identifies as Demisexual
0.2% identifies as Asexual/Biromantic
0.2% identifies as Asexual/Heterosexual
Once again, we hope that future plots featuring more diverse MC/LIs will attract more diverse players to our community.
----
That's all folks! We hope you found these results interesting and we look forward to a new survey once we hit 5000 users! Until then... happy gaming and thanks for making this awesome community as great as it is! :)

FanFiction / The Fourth Age Volume 1

Premise: A Wheel of Time fan fiction series exploring politics in the Fourth Age, set twenty years after the Last Battle. Themes will include coming of age stories, non-binary channeling, and intimacy in the White Tower.
*Open to feedback, please also let me know if there are topics you want me to explore.
Volume 1 - The Practice Yard
Phae pulled the hood of their cloak tight, perching on the root of an ancient Leatherleaf. Despite their newly waxed vestments icy droplets beat across their ink-etched cheeks. Lightning split the purple sky, illuminating chaos in the practice yard below. Phae took care to tuck their color-banded hem out of sight, though doubting even a GoldenEye could spy them in this torrent. The sorda who hunts in plain sight becomes the prey in hindsight.
The picture before them was something from the Age of Legends, unconscionable just years prior. A dozen red frocked women, some in deep crimson, others scarlet as a tinker, seemed to sprout from sodden gravel like wild roses. Onyx clad thorns twined through their ranks, stoic and deadly. From the West earth churned, rippling across the yard like Bloodsnakes, exploding into fire-brimmed clouds of shrapnel. On the East end of the yard, a small red and black Circle wove nets of ice and air, quelling the Dragon Cloud just feet from their defense line. Scents of singed silks and burnt hair carried on the wind. In the White Tower practice could be fatal.
Phae studied the weaves greedily, as had come to be their weekly exercise these past few months. C’mon, do it again. Once more you lazy mutton boils. Within the White Tower walls, there were few opportunities to witness the weavings of Saidin. They eased closer, ducking behind the Northern fence for a better view. Every thread would need to be memorized and replicated perfectly later. A single negligent mistake, a fleeting moment of distraction, and their gift could be snuffed from the pattern. They did not think even the Queen of Malkier could heal that wound.
Phae knew no one living who could appreciate this particular dance such as they. It was said that the Asha’man bond created an intuition in Aes Sedai, a type of seventh sense for Saidin. But actually seeing both flows, forget flaming weaving both halves of the One Power? That was simply unfathomed.
“Until me.”
Tracing the weaves in the practice yard, Phae let their mind wander. Perhaps if I were to choose Brown I might discover some remnant from the Age of Legends, some inkling of my heritage. But no. Brown had never been a real option. Hours in the library had proved futile, too often inducing hazardous rages. Perhaps more like them had existed in the Third Age, and simply went mad and died? The Tower was either ignorant, or keeping secrets.
Phae smirked, imagining the shock on ol’ Mother Cadsuane’s face when they finally revealed their true nature, their true Power. Phae imagined themselves among the warriors of Tarmon Gai’don, facing the Forsaken, even outstripping the Dragon himself. What role could Phae have played? The White & Black Towers had served in kind, and both had suffered staggering casualties.
The rain could do nothing to dampen the pernicious spectacle before Phae, a show of Saidar and Saidin weaves to put Seanchan SkyLlights to shame. Opening to the Immensity of the nearby flows, the savor of Saidin grew stronger, became a throbbing torrent begging, howling to embrace more, always more.
I will be more. A silent mantra.
Flicker, flicker, flicker.
Suddenly, white painted the sky as ebony shadows blanketed the ground. A deafening quake descending faster than comprehension. Instinct. Leaping in the air like a Maiden, Phae sprinted up the steep path away from danger, lungs burning, blood trickling from their nape. They did not turn to glance at the splintered Leatherleaf, did not see the charred carcass that lay where Phae stood a heart’s beat ago.
__
On the southern end of the yard, Bellana Sedai watched a dark, willowy figure dart up the cobble stones. She breathed a small sigh of relief, then smiled to herself satisfactorily. “That girl will choose the Red after all. And soon I should think. Let the Browns sip on that!” This new generation was ambitious, but Phaedra stood out even among Wilders. No doubt she would be raised by Spring, and be leading Circles within a year or two after. Bellana released the power, ignoring the fleeting sense of loss and steeling herself against fatigue.
“Soldier Barris!” She crowed, turning her attention to the Asha’man in training.
A stocky, stump of a boy lumbered across the yard to where she stood.
“What in the Light do you think you are doing Solider? Ripping out trees that have stood hundreds of years from before you were a wish in your mother’s milk?”
“Uh, well, Sir I thought, I mean Ma'am, I mean Aes Sedai, Sir.” Barris stammered. It was his first tour at the Tower, and unaccustomed to the restraints of Aes Sedai training. Bellana silenced him with a cool, raised brow.
“You thought you were ready to try a weave that could burn you out, destroy a soldier from a hundred yards off? You aren’t ready to be off leading strings it seems, never mind wear the dragon. Now, see to it that Leatherleaf stays dry long enough to become firewood for the Tower, and bring a birch cutting to Rosil Sedai. It can be accomplished before sundown I should think.”
With a simple nod, Bellana Sedai turned her back on the soldier, assured her orders would be followed to the letter. These children required a firm hand, but she tried to avoid discharging them to Black Tower methods when possible. The M’Hael’s punishments made a trip to the Mistress of Novices look like afternoon tea.
___
Phae did not stop running when they reached the Tower, nor once they crossed the threshold into Accepted quarters. They did not give thought to supper, or to the dull ache at the back of their head. Upon reaching their modest room, Phae finally stopped, promptly collapsing in a heap on the cold stone floor.
Tears came first. Then laughter. Then both in union, until exhaustion took them and they were forced to crawl to the refuge of their four-post bed. But Phae was not delirious from a brush with death, nor the thought of being caught embracing Saidin. No, the lightning had not fried their wits. They had done it. At long last they had caught the deadly weavings of Saidin & Saidar on the practice yard, memorized both sides of the complex flows exactly. Small accomplishment though it may seem, it was the first puzzle piece to fit into place for a very, very long time. It was a start. Something clicked, and they knew they would not stumble, would not burn out, they would Blaze like the fires of Dragonmount.
I am ready to begin.
___
The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Fourth Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose over the Field of Merrilor. The wind graced a forgotten child, brought from the far lands of Shara, and born in blood. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.

~ Intelligent Systems Approval Ratings ~

The approval ratings are calculated by the proportion of Approve responses compared to the number of both Approve and Disapprove responses.

Percent who approve of the way Intelligent Systems is handling:
  • 62.7% - The addition of new heroes / characters to the game (-7.6)
  • 63.9% - The gacha mechanics and summoning banners (+22.6)
  • 49.8% - The story/plot (+0.7)
  • 86.4% - Unranked PvE game modes (Hero Battles, Forging Bonds, Tactics Drills, Lost Lore, Hall of Forms) (-2.6)
  • 53.3% - Ranked PvE game modes (Voting Gauntlets, Tempest Trials, Grand Conquest, Allegiance Battles, Rokkr Sieges, Mjolnir's Strike) (-6.1)
  • 40.8% - Arena
  • 41.3% - Arena Assault
  • 33.1% - Aether Raids

30.4% believe Intelligent Systems cares about its Free to Play userbase (up 8.7% from the last survey), while 47.4% do not. Since the last survey’s result was the lowest polling for this question in the game’s history, the 8.7% increase brings us to 27.6% lower than we were before the drop).

28.1% approve of the way Intelligent Systems is handling Fire Emblem: Heroes as a whole (up 5.2% from the last survey), while 26.5% disapprove. Since the last survey’s result was the lowest polling for this question in the game’s history, the 5.2% increase brings us to 22.5% lower than we were before the drop).

A NOTE ABOUT METHODOLOGY: The overall approval ratings question above has traditionally been the exact percent of Approve responses, as a proportion with both Neutral and Disapprove responses. Note that this is different than the way approval is calculated for individual modes (the proportion of Approve responses compared to the number of both Approve and Disapprove responses), where Neutral responses are excluded. The difference in calculation has continued this way in order to maintain comparability with previous survey results.
For comparisons sake, the overall approval rating trend going by raw Approval percentage over the last 3 surveys is: 50.6% (Dec) -> 22.9% (Feb) -> 28.1% (Apr)
Whereas the overall approval rating trend going by proportion of Approve/Disapprove with the Neutrals excluded over the last 3 surveys is: 82.2% (Dec) -> 41.0% (Feb) -> 51.3% (Apr).
I’d be interested to know which you prefer / find more valuable, so if you have opinions on it, please let me know in the comments!

  • “Greetings, ShiningSolarSword! Nothing to report.”
  • “Hey didn't you just do one of these on the Magia Record subreddit?” – Yep :D
  • “How are you holding up in regards to the coronavirus? Thanks again for still doing these in times like... this.” - I’m doing well all things considered, hope you are as well!
  • “Hello, this is Azura. I am very angry to be replaced, u/ShiningSolarSword. What even is a Norne and how could she possibly be better than the queen of Valla? I do hope you consider appreciating me in the future, it would be a shame if a certain survey-giver were to turn up dead in the future, not like that’s a threat or anything.” – Y-y-yes, definitely. *quietly foddering Alm to Norne*
  • “Norne's reign of terror has ended. Reddit user ShiningSolarSword has secretly accepted the way of the Reinhardt by brandishing the tiny-handed grinning Azura.” - *quietly foddering Duo Ephraim to Norne*
  • “Resplendent Norne + refine when?” – this person knows what’s up
  • “Can we have another gag survey? Quarantine is boring.” – not a bad idea 👀

r/TheWalkingDeadGame's TWDG Survey Results (see top part of post for more info)!

EDIT: The results are now completely finished!
Hello everyone!
As many of you know by now, we did a big survey 2 weeks ago where participants were asked many different types of questions about the series. First off, I am proud to announce that a total of 259 people took the survey. I was honestly expecting around 100 people to take it, so for the final amount to be more than double than what I predicted is absolutely stellar.
So with that said, here are the results!

Demographics

Age: 40.2% are within the age range of 12-17 years old, while 39.0% are 18-22, 13.8% are 23-27, 4.3% are 28-32, 2.4% are 33-39, and 0.4% are 40-49.
Gender: 83.1% identified as male, compared to 14.2% female, 0.8% trans, 0.4% non-binary, and 1.6% who chose not to answer.
Region: 53.1% of participants live in North America, while 36.6% live in Europe, 5.9% live in Australia, 2.4% live in Asia, and 0.8% for South America as well as Africa. One person actually put in Antarctica which... I'll assume was a misclick.

You and the Series

Click here to see a visualization of the results
Entry point: 16.2% of people got into the series during season 1 (May 2012 - November 2012), while 15.4% joined after The Final Season had ended. The third most popular entry date was a tie between the start of season 1 (April 2012) and after season 2 had ended (September 2014 - December 2016), which had 12.7% participants get into the series for each of those timeframes.
First entry: 81.9% of participants said that their first Telltale experience was a TWD one, compared to 18.1% who played at least one other Telltale game beforehand.
TWD Media: 34.4% of participants were already TWD fans before getting into the games. The other 65.6% responses were various combinations of whether game players gave other forms of the TWD series a shot.
Platform: The most popular platform for playing the games is PC with 38.2%, with the runner-ups being Xbox (28.2%) and Playstation (26.6%).

Season 1 Choice Results

Click here to see a visualization of the results
The album has more info though I'll briefly summarize the more important choices since there were a lot in this category:
  • Carley or Doug? 82.9% saved Carley whereas 17.1% saved Doug.
  • Kill Larry or save him? 55.0% of players helped Kenny kill Larry while 41.9% tried to save him and 3.1% didn't make a choice in time.
  • Take the supplies? 51.6% of players took the supplies while 48.4% didn't. Definitely the most split S1 choice.
  • Save Ben? 76.3% of players saved Ben while 19.8% dropped him and 3.9% had him die by default for not killing Crawford fast enough.
  • Chop off arm? 74.4% of players chopped Lee's arm off while 25.6% didn't.
  • Shoot Lee? 89.1% of you shot Lee while 10.9% left him to turn.

Season 2 Choice Results

Click here to see a visualization of the results
  • Nick or Pete? To my surprise, 61.4% of you saved Pete instead of Nick who 38.6% of you saved.
  • Sit with at Dinner? 87.1% of you sat with Kenny as opposed to the 12.9% that sat with Luke.
  • Watch Carver die? 77.0% of you watched Kenny kill Carver as opposed to 23.0% that didn't.
  • Chop off Sarita's arm? 62.3% of you whacked her arm off while 37.7% didn't.
  • Rob Arvo? 55.5% of you did NOT rob the commie piece of shit, while 44.5% of you did.
  • Shoot Kenny? Whether it was an easy or a difficult decision, 74.3% of you did NOT shoot Kenny while 25.7% of you did.
  • Final Ending? There were many different places to end up during the finale of season 2. For 41.4% of you, the final ending you got was Clem and Kenny leaving Wellington together. The two runner-up endings were Clem at Wellington with 28.9% and at Howe's with Jane and the family at 13.7%. The least common ending was not shooting Kenny only to ditch him at the frozen car with 1.2%.

Season 3 (A New Frontier) Choice Results

Click here to see a visualization of the results
  • Stay the night? Wanting to have all of that sweet pudding, 53.3% of you stayed in the trailer while 46.7% of you wanted to hit the road.
  • Shoot Conrad? 77.4% of you shot Conrad during your first playthrough while 22.6 of you didn't. I remember the in-game stats of the Conrad choice were in the high 80's/low 90's when the episode first released, so perhaps newcomers were more likely to spare Conrad after seeing his later actions.
  • Spare Max? 66.8% of you spared Max while 26.6% of you shot him and 6.6% of you couldn't decide in time before David shot him.
  • Date Kate? 64.7% of you started a relationship with Kate while 35.3% of you friendzoned her.
  • Tripp or Ava? 69.2% of you tried to save Tripp while 30.8% of you tried to save Ava.
  • Final ending? Due to the nature of these endings they were a tie for the most part, but the most common one was Javi going with Kate while Clem looks for David (only David dies) with 32.0% of you getting this ending.

Season 4 (The Final Season) Choice Results

Click here to see a visualization of the results
  • Louis or Violet? Four questions in this survey were ones that involved Clem's two romance options: Louis and Violet. You can see the results of each specific question by clicking the link above, but for the most part people often chose/sided with Violet. Examples of such include spending the day with Violet/Brody (51.2%), appealing to Violet at the end of episode 1 (59.3%), romancing Violet in episode 2 (40.2%), and saving Violet from Lilly's group (55.0%). To any Louis fans who might be letdown about their favorite piano-playing survivor not getting the spotlight, fear not, as Louis will make a surprising comeback for some of the later results in this survey.
  • Abel's fate? 81.9% of you were merciful to Abel as you promised to killed him and actually did so in the end. The least picked option was to let him sweat and not kill him (2.8%), which is surprising to me since promising that you'll kill him and not doing it (which got 5.2%) seems much more crueler.
  • Kill Lilly? Whether it was to avenge Carley/Doug, get payback for Louis' tongue, or just to shut her up once and for all, 55.6% of you let AJ kill Lilly.
  • Trust AJ? 79.1% of you trusted AJ to make the hard calls, meaning that Tenn died on the bridge.
  • Put down Clem? Most of you did not want to live in a world where Clem as a walker could possibly exist, so 85.6% of you chose to "put down" Clem.

The Episodes and Seasons

Click here to see a visualization of the results
  • Best Episode: The best episode according to all of you is the season 1 finale No Time Left with 21.2% of the votes, while the second and third best episodes were Take Us Back (19.3%) and Starved For Help (13.1%) respectively. Runner-ups were Broken Toys (11.6%) and No Going Back (6.9%).
  • Worst Episode: You might be shocked by this (I know I definitely was), but the episode that was ranked as your least favorite was... 400 Days at 18.9%! Second and third worst episodes according to you all were Above the Law (12.7%) and a tie between Ties That Bind Pt. I and Thicker Than Water (12.0% each). Runner-ups were Amid the Ruins (10.0%) and From the Gallows (9.3%).
To those who voted for either 400 Days or Above the Law, I would really like to hear your feedback on why you voted for those two as your least favorite. 400 Days was generally liked and I often see Above the Law be regarded as the best ANF episode, so I'm not really sure how to explain these results.
  • Best Season: Another close call, but season 1 was regarded as the best season at 46.7%, followed closely by The Final Season with 40.2%.
  • Worst Season: To the surprise of absolutely no one, A New Frontier was voted as the worst season with 79.2% of votes.
  • Best Graphic Style: The more realistic and less glossy approach of The Final Season was voted as the best style with 69.1% of votes.
  • Times replayed: The amount of times you've all played the series is almost evenly split, but 33.6% of you have played through the series 4 or more times.

The Opinions

Click here to see a visualization of the results
  • Killing Larry: Most of you thought that it was right for Kenny to saltlick Larry as that option received 63.3% of the votes.
  • S2 Kenny: In S2E5, Jane said that Kenny was "a bomb waiting to go off." I used a similar quote to convey Jane's feelings about Kenny through this question. The results were nearly split but 47.1% think that Kenny is NOT "a ticking time bomb."
  • S3 Clem: Clem's actions in S3 are sometimes questionable and it was later found that the choices from the previous two games have almost no affect on her character. Despite this, 47.1% of you thought that Clem's character in S3 did justice to how she acted in the previous two games.
  • Clem's S3 inclusion: Despite the results of the above question, 39.8% of you think that Clem's inclusion as a secondary character made the game WORSE. Perhaps a duo Tales From the Borderlands approach would've been better. This was the most split question of these opinion-based ones, as the results were nearly tied and about a quarter of you couldn't decide.
  • David's character: 50.6% think that David was neither terrible nor perfect when it came to being a father, husband, and brother. Meanwhile, 40.5% of you think he was awful at all three of those things while a meager 3.9% of you thought he was perfect. Out of curiosity, I checked the specific votes from the females who took this survey but could not find a correlation between gender.
  • Jesus in S3: I probably should've reworded this question to something like "do you like seeing comic characters in the game?" The answer to that question remains to be seen, but as for Jesus himself 78.8% liked his inclusion.
  • AJ shooting Marlon: 68.7% of you thought it was wrong for AJ to shoot Marlon compared to 23.9% thought he was justified.
  • Clem in groups: 87.6% of you think Clem/AJ are better off in groups. I imagine this score would have been incredibly low if a survey like this were done right after the end of season 2.

The Characters

Click here to see a visualization of the results
Apologize for the delay on this one since counting the votes took forever.
  • Best protagonist: As expected, Clem won with 65.6% of the votes followed by Lee with 32.0%. While he has his fans, Javi's 2.3% shows that he will always remain in the shadows of the protagonists that preceded him.
  • Favorite Clem: Your favorite iteration of Clem is S4 Clem with 63.3% of votes, followed by S2 Clem (23.2%), S1 Clem (9.7%), and S3 Clem (3.9%).
  • Best 400 Days character: 40.1% of you voted for Vince as your favorite 400 Days character. From there, the votes decreased based on the chronological order of when you play as each following character. This was a bit surprising since Bonnie got more votes than Shel despite Bonnie's actions in S2.
  • Best cabin group survivor: 71.7% of you said that Luke was your favorite survivor, while Pete (12.8%) and Alvin (7.4%) followed along from a great distance.
  • Best Ericson's survivor: It was a close call but Louis won the vote with 43.7%, followed by Violet (36.9%) and... Rosie? (4.4%).
  • Best villain/antagonist: The best villain according to you all was Carver who took home 44.8% of the votes. The St. Johns (13.9%) and Lilly (13.5%) place in second and third while somewhere in the herd you can hear Minerva singing (12.0%).
  • Best Clem love interest: Despite Violet winning almost all of the S4 choice questions a while back, people think that the best love interest for Clem would be Louis with 38.2%. Violet was a close second with 36.7%, while 15.8% prefer Clem to be alone and 6.9% of you didn't know or didn't care.
  • Most annoying character: Although Gabe sucks at keeping secrets, he is great at one thing: being the most obnoxious character with 28.7% of the votes. The two other "screw-up" characters from the previous two seasons followed afterwards, with Sarah getting 17.8% of votes and Ben getting 11.2%.
  • Favorite and most hated characters: I'm way too tired to explain this part in depth so click the imgur album above to see the top 5 results yourself. I'll probably do a better favorite characters poll in the future.

The Moments

Click here to see a visualization of the results
There were far too many possible options to go through so I just listed the top 5 for each question:
  • Most difficult choice: Hardest choice for most of you was choosing whether to stay in Wellington or leave with Kenny which got 18.1% of the votes.
  • Most intense moment: On the verge of her possible death, both Clem getting bit and the final barn scene were voted the most intense scenes as they received 14.7% votes each.
  • Saddest moment: As expected, Lee's death was voted the saddest moment with a staggering 39.8% of the votes.
  • Most epic/applause-worthy moment: Learning that Clem survived her bite easily took the top spot with 36.7% of the votes.
  • Scariest/creepiest scene: Never mind the darkness... or the fact that Minerva singing on the bridge won this vote with a high 39.4%.
  • Most shocking/jaw-dropping scene: Since it seemed almost impossible for her to get out of that predicament, Clem being alive was voted by 15.8% of you as the most shocking moment. Tying in second place was both Lee and Clem getting bit, which both received 13.1% votes each.
  • Worst death: Imagine surviving two entire games only to get killed at the start of the third. That was the case for Kenny's S3 death which was voted the worst death at 31.7%.
  • Favorite quotes: Too many quotes to go through, though the clear winner was "Still. Not. Bitten." which got over 30 votes.

Future/Unexplored

Click here to see a visualization of the results
  • Unexplored fates: There were many characters in the series who have come and gone only to never be seen again. When asked which of these fates you'd like to learn about, the top answer was Christa with 31.7%. The other two highest rated contenders were Kenny if you stayed in Wellington (29.7%) and Javi/Richmond survivors after S3 (15.4%)
  • New Clem sequel: Clem's journey has finally come to an end, though whether it is actually the end is something that I often see get questioned on this sub. Despite Clem's adventure ending on a good note and the game being called The Final Season, 50.6% of you voted that you would like to see a sequel game featuring Clem/AJ. Conversely, 40.9% would not like to see a sequel while 8.5% of you were unsure.
New game ideas: We asked you to pitch us your ideas for a TWD game as long as it wasn't a Clem sequel. All of the ideas were great but here were some of the common/notable ones:
  • Kenny side-story set either between S1 and S2 or set after leaving Clem at Wellington.
  • Javi and Richmond sequel where they're at war with Delta.
  • 400 Days spin-off featuring unexplored characters like Molly and Christa.
  • A 'what-if' game where things are different, like Lee never meeting Clem.
  • Lilly spin-off between S1 and S4.
  • Ericson kids prequel.
  • "The continuation of Javi’s adventure of ‘what the fuck is going on’"

Final Super Serious Questions

Click here to see a visualization of the results
  • Favorite Chet quote: The 7 famous Chet quotes have been passed down from generation to generation, but the legendary quote "It's hotdish night" was the winner with 27.4% of votes.
  • Did you lick it? ...77.2% of you didn't know...
  • Reggie what the fuck happened in here? Click the imgur link above to see the full results or click here for the brief summary to this question. EDIT 6/6/20: After nearly 2 months I'm gonna post a pastebin of all the responses to the Reggie question just so you can see what people said https://pastebin.com/pugxsUif
  • Chet vs. Omar: In what was undeniably the most important vote of 2020, the person who would win in a fight would be... Omar with an extremely close 50.6%. It was a very intense battle as when I would check on the status during the voting phase, there were many times where the results were tied. I may have screwed up by adding "Chef" Omar to the question and not giving Chet his own unique moniker, so perhaps a rematch is due for sometime in the future especially since this was the most split result in the entire survey.
  • What to do with Arvo: There were a ton of funny responses to this question. The ones that I thought were the funniest can be viewed by clicking the imgur link at the top of this section. I also took the liberty into visualizing a couple of the responses.
And with that, I AM FINALLY DONE MAKING THE RESULTS! This entire thing took forever but overall I think it was worth it despite there being several areas where I could've improved. I might do something like this again in the future (specifically with a favorite characters poll since I messed that up here), but that definitely won't be for a while.
So for now, enjoy these results while I go to sleep for a long time.

Help! Game closes after loading screen

I have tried both with v0.990 and v0.980, Installed OpenAL, reseting my computer and reinstalling the game and OpenAL several times... nothing is working :( My computer has 4Gb VRAM so I know that isnt the problem.

Some Built-in modules in python

To check the blog post Letsprogram

Operating System Interface

Python can also interact with the operating system you are using. For a different operating system, different python software will be available so there is no problem in accessing the python. The os module will provide dozens of commands to interact with the operating system. If you want to write or read files you can use open() method, manipulate paths using os.path module, create a file, or a directory using shutil module. All the functions in this module will raise OSError in case of invalid or inaccessible file or path names. >import os>os.getcwd()'C:\\python38'>os.chdir('\system\files\')>os.system('mkdir programs') getcwd() will give you the current working directory of the system. chdir() will change you the path of the current directory. system() will be used as a shell you can give any commands. For file and directory management tasks shutil module will provide you an interface which is easy to use. >import shutil>shutil.copyfile('data.db','archive.db')'archive.db'>>>shutil.move('/users/programs','Python38')'Python38' Be sure you use import os style instead of from os import \*. This will make os.open() from shadowing the built-in function open() which are different. To know all the module functions use the command dir(os) and to know the module's docstring use the command help(os).

Command-line Arguments

Common utility scripts often need to process command-line arguments. These arguments are stored in the
sys
module’s argv attribute as a list. For instance the following output results from running
python demo.py one two three
at the command line: >>> import sys>>>print(sys.argv)['demo.py','one','two','three'] The
argparse
module provides a more sophisticated mechanism to process command line arguments. The following script extracts one or more filenames and an optional number of lines to be displayed: import argparse parser = argparse.ArgumentParser(prog = 'top', description = 'Show top lines from each file')parser.add_argument('filenames', nargs='+')parser.add_argument('-l', '--lines', type=int, default=10)args = parser.parse_args()print(args)view rawcommandline.py hosted with ❤ by GitHubWhen run at the command line with python top.py --lines=5 alpha.txt beta.txt, the script sets args.lines to 5 and args.filenames to ['alpha.txt', 'beta.txt'].

Regular Expression

The
re
module provides regular expression tools for advanced string processing. For complex matching and manipulation, regular expressions offer succinct, optimized solutions: >import re>re.findall(r'bd[a-z]*',"Follow the blog for more updates")['Follow','for']>>>re.sub(r'(\b[a-z]+) \1', r'\1', 'cat in the the hat')'cat in the hat' When only simple capabilities are needed, string methods are preferred because they are easier to read and debug: >>>"Tickets for two".replace('two','us')'Tickets for us'

Maths

The
math
module gives access to the underlying C library functions for floating-point math:>import math>math.cos(math.pi/4)0.707016>>>math.log(1024,2)10 The
random
module provides tools for making random selections and The
statistics
module calculates basic statistical properties (the mean, median, variance, etc.) of numeric data: >>> import random>>> random.choice(['apple', 'pear', 'banana'])'apple'>>> random.sample(range(100), 10) # sampling without replacement[30, 83, 16, 4, 8, 81, 41, 50, 18, 33]>>> random.random() # random float0.17970987693706186>>> random.randrange(6) # random integer chosen from range(6)4>>> import statistics>>> data = [2.75, 1.75, 1.25, 0.25, 0.5, 1.25, 3.5]>>> statistics.mean(data)1.6071428571428572>>> statistics.median(data)1.25>>> statistics.variance(data)1.3720238095238095view rawrandom.py hosted with ❤ by GitHubThe SciPy project has many other modules for numerical computations.

Internet Access

There are a number of modules for accessing the internet and processing internet protocols. Two of the simplest are
urllib.request
for retrieving data from URLs and
smtplib
for sending mail: >>> from urllib.request import urlopen>>> with urlopen('http://tycho.usno.navy.mil/cgi-bin/timer.pl') as response:... for line in response:... line = line.decode('utf-8') # Decoding the binary data to text.... if 'EST' in line or 'EDT' in line: # look for Eastern Time... print(line)
Nov. 25, 09:43:32 PM EST >>> import smtplib>>> server = smtplib.SMTP('localhost')>>> server.sendmail('[email protected]', '[email protected]',... """To: [email protected]... From: [email protected]...... Beware the Ides of March.... """)>>> server.quit()view rawinternetaccess.py hosted with ❤ by GitHub

Dates and Times

The
datetime
module supplies classes for manipulating dates and times in both simple and complex ways. While date and time arithmetic is supported, the focus of the implementation is on efficient member extraction for output formatting and manipulation. The module also supports objects that are timezone aware.>>> # dates are easily constructed and formatted>>> from datetime import date>>> now = date.today()>>> nowdatetime.date(2003, 12, 2)>>> now.strftime("%m-%d-%y. %d %b %Y is a %A on the %d day of %B.")'12-02-03. 02 Dec 2003 is a Tuesday on the 02 day of December.' >>> # dates support calendar arithmetic>>> birthday = date(1964, 7, 31)>>> age = now - birthday>>> age.days14368view rawdate.py hosted with ❤ by GitHub

the system works perfectly before the upgrade, I doubt mesa cause this issue.
There's error under xorg: (EE) intel(0): [drm] failed to set drm interface version: Permission denied [13].
But from lspci and glxinfo confirm the graphics card worked well?

I'l try to downgrade mesa and update later.

Results of the Subreddit Survey

This time last week, we put out a subreddit survey to gather demographic info and solicit opinions on the current state of Rule 8 (low-effort content) and Rule 9 (non-original fanart).
In 7 days, the survey got 1,558 responses, which is a whopping 0.77% of our 203,000 subscribers. We didn't expect to get anywhere close to full participation, given that a bunch of those subscribers are probably no longer active, and more still just view /FireEmblem through their own front page and so they were never going to see the survey in the first place. Effectively, each response to the survey is "representing" 130 people.
While perusing these results, it's important to keep in mind that this survey expresses the opinion of respondents to the survey, not necessarily our subscriber base at large. That said, we are still going to look to its results in informing our policies.
Here are the results.

Demographics

Three-quarters of respondents are male. According to this random article I found on Google, estimations of the gender balance on Reddit puts the male userbase at somewhere between 50 and 71%, meaning we skew slightly disproportionately male. I wouldn't look too far into it, though, given the response rate.
Around 70% of respondents are between the ages of 18 and 27, as expected. A mere 3% of respondents are older than 32 or younger than 13.
No particular trends in the number of years the respondents have been on Reddit.
About one-fifth of respondents joined the subreddit in the 6 months after Three Houses' release, and another one-fifth joined in the year or so preceding Three Houses' release. Let's compare this to our subscriber stats:
In the time between the release of the first Three Houses trailer (June 2018) and the game's release (July 2019), we went from 81,000 subscribers to 123,000. That means roughly 20% of our current subscriber base joined in that time, which matches up with the representation in the survey.
Meanwhile, between Three Houses' release and now, we've shot up from 123,000 subscribers to our current figure of 203,000. If those new subscribers were properly represented in the survey, they should fill up about 40% of the pie, not 20%. This suggests that brand new subscribers are underrepresented in the survey responses. Some of those might've subscribed to the sub for some hot tips while they were playing the game, and stopped looking at it afterward. Some might have subscribed because of the surge of fanart that accompanied release. I guess new subscribers just prefer to view the sub via their own front page. We're not 100% sure. All we know is that there's some sort of underrepresentation in these results.
Less than 10% of respondents post enough to consider themselves "active" in the sub. Including a third option here felt like kind of a cop-out, but surely if we left it between "active" and "not active", a lot of people would be unsure where they stood. Frankly, I was surprised by this result, because I figured that the only people who would care enough to respond to a big dumb survey would be the same people who care enough to actively post. Apparently not. What's up, all you politically-active lurkers?

Fire Emblem Games

Okay, disclaimer, I bungled things up here with regard to TMS♯FE. It was only brought to my attention that I forgot to include it as an option after 490 responses were already submitted. As such, I'll list the actual percentages for it in the remaining thousand or so responses below.
Here's a graph of which FE games respondents have PLAYED, but not necessarily beaten. TMS♯FE's real percentage is around 11%. Unsurprisingly, nearly all respondents have tried out Three Houses, and then Awakening follows it up. The very first FE game, Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, is also unsurprisingly the least-played game.
The graph for which FE games respondents have BEATEN turns out similarly. TMS's actual percentage is around 7%. Unsurprisingly, the NES games also have the highest discrepancy between playing a game and beating it – less than 50% of people who've tried FE1 or FE2 have actually beaten them. If you flip between the two graphs, you'll see that the only game that changes position between them is FE11 - more respondents have beaten Radiant Dawn than Shadow Dragon despite the fact that Shadow Dragon is slightly more-played.
What were respondents' FIRST FE games, and which is their FAVOURITE? Because the visuals are unhelpful, here's a chart of the responses. I think Reddit formatting should let you sort the columns by frequency if you click the headings.
Game FIRST FAVOURITE
FE1 3 0
FE2 2 0
FE3 7 0
FE4 8 76
FE5 3 35
FE6 31 40
FE7 332 56
FE8 206 80
FE9 82 90
FE10 62 134
FE11 71 11
FE12 1 18
FE13 453 117
BR 62 5
CQ 33 35
RV 3 7
FE15 10 62
FE16 115 732
Heroes 48 7
Warriors 2 3
TMS 1 3
*Again, TMS got screwed, so multiply its responses by 1.5 to get an estimate of what it should've gotten.
Contrary to what one might expect, Awakening still dominates the first-game category for our respondents, followed by the localized GBA titles, and only then does Three Houses show up. If Fates's three versions are combined, it ends up right below Three Houses and right above Path of Radiance. This might be tied into our underrepresentation of new subscribers – presumably a lot of them started with Three Houses.
Meanwhile, Three Houses certainly dominates the favourite-game category, with nearly half of respondents saying it's their #1. Either the game is well-loved, or recency bias is a big thing. Or both. Radiant Dawn has to settle for a distant second place, followed by Awakening and Path of Radiance, all in single digit percentages. Unsurprisingly, Three Houses also takes the crown for the highest favourite/played ratio – 49.7% of people who've played Three Houses listed it as their favourite game, far higher than any other game.
Don't let the colours of this graph fool you - one-third of respondents sided with the Blue Lions first, while more than a third chose Black Eagles and less than a third chose Golden Deer.

Rule 9

Rule 9 concerns fanart. It states that fanart can only be posted by its original artist, or someone who paid the artist to create it and who is posting it with permission. As such, we remove any "found fanart". I've documented our reasons for Rule 9 in the survey post, so please refer to that if you have questions about why it exists.
First off, how do respondents feel about the current amount of fanart on the sub? Well… they feel… differently. We polled this using a sliding scale from 1 to 5, where 1 means "I want way more fanart on the sub", 5 means "I want way less fanart on the sub", 3 means the current amount is okay, and 2 and 4 represent their respective extremes, but, like, less extreme. As you can see, the sub is undoubtedly divided on this, but to our pleasant surprise, a plurality of respondents indicated that they don't want more or less. Nearly half of respondents chose 3, while the remaining 50% were divided almost equally between wanting more or less. Hooray for no-win situations.
That in itself, however, wouldn't be enough to justify not touching Rule 9, so we asked about it specifically. Nearly three-quarters of respondents are fine with the current Rule 9. Most of the rest want it to be relaxed. A small percentage want us to ban fanart entirely. An (undocumented) amount presumably would be happy if we confined all fanart to a single day of the week or some other measure to cut down on art without outright banning it. We aren't considering that as a course of action, which is why it wasn't included on the poll.
We also asked if users would be open to having a single day of the week where non-OC fanart could be posted (properly-sourced, obviously). Almost immediately after putting this question up, we realized that this would probably be a bad idea, and so we're glad that the response was rather lukewarm. A 45/55 split might not sound like it's definitive, but having given it some thought, it's nowhere near the result we would need to justify actually putting that plan into action.
We also included a section for free-form feedback on Rule 9. At the bottom of this post I'll include a link to an anonymized spreadsheet containing all the free-form responses we got for each question like that.
Given what you're about to see next in the Rule 8 section (hoo boy), we're going to go ahead and consider a 75% vote in favour of keeping Rule 9 the same a wild endorsement of our preferred course of action, which is this:
Going forward, Rule 9 will be unchanged.

Rule 8

Rule 8 concerns low-effort content, including unedited screenshots, pictures of merch/game boxes, and memes. After Three Houses released, we started enforcing Rule 8 so strictly that memes as a whole were effectively banned.
On this survey, we polled each component of Rule 8 separately to see if respondents thought they should be allowed on the sub.
Should unedited screenshots of dialogue be allowed? A little over 50% of respondents said no. There isn't sufficient support here for us to reconsider our stance on this one. I want to be clear here in saying that we're not looking for majority rule necessarily – our decision would be the same if the numbers were flipped and slightly more than 50% of respondents said yes instead.
Should unedited screenshots of gameplay be allowed? Here there was less of a split. Around 60% of respondents said yes. According to the free-form results (again, linked at the bottom of the post), we get the impression that some people would like gameplay screenshots to be allowed if they show something interesting, instead of just, you know, a shot of a maxed-out Ike or getting a 1% crit. If that was our policy, we'd then have to judge those posts based not on effort, but how noteworthy and radical they were. While I personally am not super opposed to a coolness-based moderating system, we'd prefer that gameplay stuff be confined to the Everyone Plays Fire Emblem thread or shared via self-posts rather than reversing our stance on screenshots. (Of course, EPFE has ironically been temporarily suspended to make room for these survey posts, but that's a separate problem.) 60% support isn't overwhelming enough for us to reconsider this part of the rule.
Should merch posts or pictures of game boxes be allowed, keeping in mind that "collection" posts are already allowed and would continue to be? Around 70% said no, so this is clearly the part of the rule that we're going to get yelled at about the least.
And then we arrive at the big one – memes. Three options here, as well as a free-form "Other" option that… I'm not really sure why we included when we had a separate free-form section right after. Whoops. Anyway, around 20% of respondents are fine with the current anti-meme Rule 8, another 20% want all memes to be allowed, and the remaining 60% would prefer a discretion-based system where we only remove memes that are truly "low-effort". Herein lies the rub: even the people who answered that question the same have different views about what makes something low-effort. If we do end up going back to the discretion-based system, we either have to somehow nail down a solid definition for what makes something removable, or else deal with posts on a case-by-case basis.
The possible problems with a discretionary system encouraged us to include a separate option on the survey. We asked respondents whether they would be supportive of a system where memes were restricted to a single day of the week. This was independent of their answer to the previous question, so if someone voted "no", they could have meant "no, I want memes every day" or "no, I don't memes at all". At least one respondent said that this binary choice indicated a lack of integrity of the mod team, that it was emblematic of the fact that we had already decided to ban memes before even making the poll, and that we should repoll the question. Given that we already covered that distinction in the previous question, it wasn't really relevant for the purposes of this question. All this question asked was whether you would support a meme day, because frankly, we just wanted to know to what extent such an arrangement would piss people off, not why.
Slightly over two-thirds of respondents indicated that they would be okay with a meme day system.
This leaves the mod team with two viable options – either we return to a discretionary system where some memes live and some die, or we cut the knot and allow most memes, save for those that violate Rule 1, on a single day of the week. We have not yet decided which approach we prefer – admittedly, the team is split. We wanted to get these results to you as soon as possible, though, in advance of having actually made a decision. One thing is clear, though: with only 20% of respondents happy with the current state of Rule 8, we can't just leave things as they are.
A factor that is going to colour our decision is, again, how divided the sub is on this issue. A lot of the free-form responses (which, to be fair, make up a relatively small percentage of the sub) expressed that the curbing of low-effort content is a big reason some people enjoy the sub. Meanwhile, other responses indicated that banning memes has killed the sub. To an extent, we can't win. If we return to a discretionary system, some people are going to hate that some memes are still banned, and some people are going to be upset that memes are allowed again at all. If we go with a meme day instead, some people are going to be upset that we half-assed it, and others are going to find the sub unusable on that day of the week.
We can't please everyone. We have to go with whatever is more practical. We're currently hashing this out.
In summary:
Screenshots and merch posts will remain banned. Rule 8 will be loosened with regard to memes in a manner to be determined.

Free-form responses and general feedback

We included a question about how good the mod team is doing in general. Stop it, you guys, we're blushing.
Finally, we included free-form response sections on the following topics, with the following response rates:
  1. Any thoughts on Rule 8?
  2. Any thoughts on Rule 9?
  3. Any other rules that should be modified?
  4. Any general feedback?
These responses contained some really good thoughts. For transparency, here is a Google doc containing all of the responses, with each column alphabetized for anonymity, and I do mean all of the responses, including the handful that I would have preferred to remove because they contained personal call-outs. I did take the liberty of censoring the responses we got that were just the n-word. The main thing to take away from these responses is that y'all can't agree on anything. As you can see, depending on the question, these free-form questions got between 93 and 248 responses, so they make up a smaller subset of our already-small sample size, so while they do represent important viewpoints of our subscribers, take them with a tiny grain of salt.
Oh, right, which mod would win in a fight. That was also a question. Well, first of all, we're all winners because we get to serve this wonderful community. That said:
